Rear Swaybar question

Hi everyone,

I have a 2020 2500 with a Prospector package on it. I am interested in reducing roll stiffness in it a bit. I know there are options for reduced rate front swaybars, but I haven't seen anything for the rear. So, here's my question. Does anyone know if the Power Wagon runs the same rear swaybar as a diesel 2500? (I wonder if it runs one that is a little less stiff)

Thanks,

AFAIK the rear sway bar is the same on the PW as the other 2500 trim levels.

While the parts houses aren't always accurate on fitment, this one supports my belief:

Have you checked with AEV to see if they have options? I believe their lift uses sway bar spacers and longer end links, but they may also have off-menu upgrade options.

I finally got a set of extended sway bar links for the rear and that alone made a big difference. may try disco'ing the front.

Thanks for the replies, you guys. I come from the Toyota world and am totally new to Ram stuff. On all my yotas, I have always pulled the front swaybar off all together... maybe I'll disconnect 1 end link and see how it feels... I contacted AEV, asking if they were familiar with a way to reduce roll stiffness. They suggested a quick disconnect for the front swaybar. At the time, I thought reducing front and rear roll stiffness at the same time would leave the current front/rear balance in place... which would result in nearly identical handling characteristics on-road. But, given that it seems common to just pull the front bar... maybe I'll see how that feels first!

While I'm here...

Do any of you guys know what kind of limited slip they put in the "anti spin" rear axle? I spun my rear tires the other day and it engaged with a big clunk. It almost makes me wonder if it is a torsion setup rather than clutch....

Thanks for all the help,

Power wagons have helical gear the rest are clutches the clunk could have been a fluke mine is really seemless and works great

Great information, thanks. This gives me an excuse to do a test down my street.

And offroad, it lets your solid axle articulate like a solid axle should!

Mainly when you go over bumps and curbs you dont have it tossing you side to side no extra sway or anything
I'm still getting used to the fact you guys off road these things...now I feel silly asking considering I wheel a Wrangler....lol...

I've not done much worse than tincup pass and similar. that's plenty for these big boody trucks.

I'm still trying to figure out how much I'll do in the Ram. I want to get out and explore with it. (I hate to use the word "Overlanding" but it seems like the Ram would be really good for something like that) I have an older Land Cruiser that I'll continue to use for the rock crawling. Make fun of me for this but I think the Ram is just too pretty to beat up.

Nah, not gonna make fun of you. My ram has a few pine-stripes but mostly sees street and towing duty. I also have a Toyota to beat on.

Just to close this thread out.... I did a flex test on my Ram. The rear end flexed pretty well and moved better than the front, even with the front swaybar disconnected. Here's a picture of the swaybar while the truck was flexed out. you can see the angle of bar from where it attaches to the end links... seems pretty decent to me. At this point, I am no longer looking into swapping it out for something else.
