I have a question about rear springs, I want a little more payload capability but I don't want to effect the ride hight, a little is okay. Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks in advance!

I would add airbags and when needed you can add air

Adding air bags will not aid to Payload. they are there to level truck out and supply a more stable ride.

I'm not sure. maybe switch-out to a heavier spring but than you got breaks and the rest of the drive line to contend with.

Brakes are the same from a 2500 to 3500 SRW.
3500 SRW MAY have a bigger axle, although I doubt it. Driveshafts and transmissions are the same.
Heavier coils and adding airbags have exactly the same effect.
3500 have leaf springs instead of control arms and coils. Leaf springs are considered a heavier duty offering but do sacrifice ride quality a bit compared to the 4 link and coils.

The only thing you can not change is the LEGAL GVWR because you are taxed (registration) based on that. It would take an act of god to upgrade that, at least in my state. We can freely downgrade GVWR to save on registration, but can never upgrade so far as I am aware.

Put your airbags on it like the 10 million folks before you have done and move on with life. Stay away from this subject on forums and you'll be happy.

Thank you.

2500/3500 SO and Hemi has a 11.5" AAM

3500 HO SRW has a 12" AAM - same as the DRW except the axles are necked down at the spindle to fit the legacy bolt pattern.

The Dually's have a new larger bolt pattern and are not necked down.

Thank you. That confirms, the great majority of 3500 srw trucks are literally identical to your 2500 aside from the leaf springs.

It's mainly a tax/registration issue. Look at the 2500 front and rear grid axle weight, it's always 11K to 12K pounds, but for the sake of CDL restrictions in some states and registration costs, they cap most 2500/250 trucks at 10,000 gross (just recently this is starting to change) so that contractors businesses can use the 2500 series easier.

I understand what the 2500 is, and when I hear people talk about brakes, frames and towing and claim that a 1 ton srw is far better/stronger.... I want to puke.

I have had some questions answered, thanks. Now the next question, Air lift load lifter 7500XL or the firestone air bag set up 7500# ?
