Rear Driveshaft/Crossmember Clearance

I like the approach I would do similar but instead I would cut a 3/8 plate and bend it to make a one piece weld in replacement. I don’t have the need to do it yet since I have a 2 piece shaft but if I go to a 1 piece aluminum I would likely need to so that.
I thought about that approach but decided on cutting out sections of box steel instead I think its stronger than welding a flat piece of plate in there but Im not an engineer haha.

Do we non-pw people have that crossmember? I assumed it supported those skid plates only. I have a one piece rear shaft, I assume you have a longbed?

Based on ATL’s crossmember modification photos I have to say that it makes zero sense that a shop could just “heat it up and bend it down”. That was a pretty sturdy rectangular tubing crossmember or perhaps they are not talking about the same cross member?
Yeah, I’m skeptical as well. I sent him a message asking about it, but I don’t expect a reply. The existing crossmember is flattened a significant amount from the factory to give some additional clearance, so maybe it’s possible?

Yes I do have a long bed, its been a while since ive been under it and its muddy here im not check it now lol but I don’t have a gas tank skid so maybe not

Got some measurements last night. With the driveshaft disconnected the axle droops a full 2 1/8" further than the point where the driveshaft makes contact with the crossmember. That's to full shock extension with the brake lines not overstretched and the coils still firmly in place.

I really don't want to sacrifice 2" of travel that I paid for when I went with the long travel coils. Texts and pics sent to Thuren and awaiting their response.
