Hi, I've been having a strange problem with my 22 Laramie, the rear bed light randomly seems to come on for no reason, it happens when I start the truck. Doesn't seem to happen once the truck is started, and once i manually turn it off, it doesn't come back on until the engine is power cycled again.

Anyone else have an issue like this? I am looking for a solution without going to the dealer as I am outside of warranty, and I could see this being a difficult problem for them to diagnose.

That’s one I haven’t heard about. Should be interesting to hear the fix.

Is it the cargo lamps button on the headlight switch that is automatically turned on when you start the truck? If so, check fuses F10, 12, 14, and 23. That is the type of behavior when the BCM loses power from one of those feeds. If those aren’t it, you’ll have to scan the BCM for faults.

Resolution - seems like the truck thinks the tailgate is not closed all the way. I have stumbled across that when it does this I can get out, slam the tailgate and it seems to stop lighting the lamp whenever starting the truck. I am going to look into wether i need to clean contacts inside the switch or something like that

There was a tailgate alignment recall, check the ram site to see if yours falls into that recall.
