Ram towing website not working

The Ram towing guide website (https://www.ramtrucks.com/towing/towing-guide.html) has not been working for at least a week.
I have a 2020 Ram Rebel that I bought in July and I remember when I bought it, I ran my VIN through the site and it was 10,000+. Are there any other ways to get this information as I look at towing a travel trailer (not a 5th wheel) in the near future? I have called RAM customer service twice, sent an email, and chatted with them .... no answers.

Does it work when you enter a VIN? The website loads, but the issue is when I enter a VIN, it will not return a result.

Do you have an adblocker? Are you using a VPN. Both of those can at times make the website not work right. No rhyme or reason because it isn't a consistent thing. Maybe try another web browser or use a buddies computer. If not, I'm sure one of us can look it up for you
 
This is weird. I have tried my phone, tablet, and two different computers with different browsers.
 
The towing number is bogus anyways, especially with a 1500.

You have all the numbers you need.

Go out to your truck and open the door.

You will see 2 tags. One will have GVWR and axle ratings. The other will have payload.

You say a rebel and i assume a Hemi.

So GVWR is 7100
GCWR is 17000

Take 7100 minus your payload. This gives you base weight.

Take 17000 minus base weight. This gives you max towing. This is not a max trailer though.

For instance. Lets say your payload is 1475

7100 minus 1475 is 5625.

17000 minus 5625 is 11375.

But with a 1500 you are payload limited

The 11375 is everything you can add to your base truck up to 17000. Passengers, cargo, TW and trailer.

If it is an equipment trailer you can use 10% tongue weight and if you weigh less than 300lbs can get close to that number...but if towing a camper you are looking at about 13% tongue weight and then the payload linits you.

So very simple math for anyone looking.

GVWR minus payload equals base weight.

GCWR MINUS Base weight equals max towing.

Max trailer equals the sum of passengers, cargo, hitch, (tongue weight under payload) subtracted from Max towing

Also remember that the 1500 is limited to 1200lbs tongue weight. Anything over 500 needs a weight distribution hitch

It is my VIN that is not working.
I just pulled some VINs off a dealer site and they all worked.

My door labels don't list a GCWR.
I have attached my door labels. Am I missing something?

Quoted the wrong message. The towing charts are were you get GCWR. Nothing has changed for the HEMI since 2019.

3.21 13900 and 3.92 17000

Rebel has 3.92 only and your payload is actually pretty good.

I didn't realize the 17000 was for my truck and was thinking it was just an example.

I truly appreciate the help.

So if my payload is maxed at 1504 for people and cargo, I can tow 9,900 with 500 on the tongue. I can increase the towing capacity as I decrease people/cargo.... to a total max of 11,404 if there were no people or cargo in the cab of the truck.

Is a full fuel tank accounted for in the 7100 or the 1504 payload?

This has been very educational! Thanks for the time and in the end I should have no issues with a 7500# travel trailer.

On a side note, talked to a less than helpful supervisor at RAM customer service today about their website issues .... an issue for 2020 model year. I just tried two different 2020 VINs from a dealer website and neither worked.

If i am reading you correct...you say the towing chart shows a different max tow than your VIN?

If my reading comprehension is correct, that is because the towing chart is fpr configuration in tradesman trim. Like if the chart says 15785 but your VIN says 15268.

The towing charts are for a guide only. The only thing to use the towing chart for is to find GCWR. All the other numbers are on the door jamb.

With the 1500 you will find the tow rating can be affected by the 1200lbs tongue weight.

With the 2500 the tongue weight usually isnt an issue unless you have a limited diesel

With the 3500 you have to watch as the max tow can only be obtained with a gooseneck and does not apply to bumper pull.

Just some thoughts.
