Big changes are coming to Ram Trucks—and fast. In a bold statement posted to LinkedIn, Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis confirmed the brand will launch 25 new product announcements over the next 18 months, signaling a major shift for the truck-maker known best for its half-ton and Heavy Duty pickups.

#26 on my wish list is a HD Ram with a modern manual transmission that can easily handle the full horsepower and torque of the 6.7L HO Cummins.

I'm not the only one...

All 2 of you. Ram dropped the stick due to less than 5% take rate. They're not bringing it back, especially after the investment in the ZF.

That is the kind of thing that a person would do as a personal hobby / along with a fabricator.

Sort of like building a vehicle for the track or a custom off road vehicle.

In very low volumes, ( depending the state ) you can get exemptions for custom stuff so it does not have to meet 100% of the regulations.

The place to start is to see if anyone has a hobby or business sector that is dependent on it, such as military, racing, tractor pulls, mining, lumber, mud / swamp buggies, etc to find parts and experience.

The big challenge you will face is that the military has gone to all automatic transmissions, ( AFAIK ) so that market is gone.

The other place to look is by searching through the cummins web site news to see if there are any similar projects in markets that require a manual transmission, for instance they have a lot of presence in India, so there might be a transmission like that sold there. Or the bus and truck delivery segment.

I am not saying that it is a good or bad idea, just that getting someone to make a "product level investment" is going to be tough, when the world is pumping a lot into hybrids.

Make it zero.

Per his video he's not in the market for a new HD truck.

Purchased last Fall our 2024 Ram 3500 with the Aisin. I'm not in the market either.

1. REAL UPDATES to the Gasser! Competitive Power, Octane maybe .
2. REAL PW UPDATES. Exhaust, bumpers, remote, factory quality rock sliders, 35 inch QUALITY tires and who knows what else, surprise us.
3. Continue the Reliability fixes, no more burying there heads in that sand. What Hemi tick?
4. Payload Updates, across the board. Tow rating update PW.

Coming back to the original post, there are only a few ways to introduce 25 products in 18 months:
- They already exist in another market, and are just being transferred in
- A lot of poorly engineered products
- Slapping on some labels with minor mechanical changes

If he wants to compete with the maverick, it will take a hybrid of some kind.

Sounds like the big news for the week is the option to have a ( 5.7 hemi + etorq ) in 5 or 6 of the 1500 variations in the 2026.

It is being presented as a "customer request driven option" but no significant change in performance or fuel efficiency compared to the other engines that are available.

Needed to happen, but a little half baked with no engine improvements and having to get stuck with the useless e torque. Not sure that bodes well for any other news coming.

Stick shift !! Nothing sucks worse than being in a traffic jam than having to constantly clutch and shift. 35 years of shifting gears in class 8 trucks forget about it ! . If you gave me one I would have a for sale on it the next day .

They didn't have time to R&D any "engine improvements" or other platform changes. Be happy we're getting the Hemi at all at this point. They had just enough time to work out of the kinks of making the Hemi work with the new electrical platform.

Things take time. Chill and enjoy the ride. It's going to be interesting over the next two years.

This guy gets it.

Why does PW have less payload than a 1/2 ton truck? I don't want to hear the excuses about "it's designed for off-road" blah blah blah. I can buy a Ford Tremor with a factory winch and go everywhere a PW can go AND pull a huge load too.

And they need to start standing behind their products. Handle their warranty claims like men. Keep making parts for more than 5 years. Support your customer.

And why is the gas option still the same engine and power output from over a decade ago? Ford and GM have moved on.

Why is the cab the same cab from 2009?

Why does a 2500 Cummins have less payload than many Ford F-150s?

C'mon Ram, you have to spend money to make money.

The Tremor and the PW are not the same. Not even close. PW suspension is far softer, hence the lower payload.

All 3 brands struggle with warranty's and parts supply.

I agree, they should develop a new gasser engine. Push rod 426 7.0 would be nice. They're years out from doing that though.

Cab is easy, they're lazy.

2500 cummins payload is low because it uses coil springs instead of leaf springs, truck is heavier as it's not 100% aluminum body/bed and 10k GVWR. Why does Ram limit to 10k GVWR? Because some states require commercial registration for anything over 10k. Can you haul more in a Ram 2500? Yeah, just don't exceed axle ratings and you should be fine.

They could switch to leaf springs then all the d-bags would be complaining about a harsher ride.

There are some 2500 configs now with an 11,040 payload. Not sure the magic sauce option has been fully determined, but they exist.

The PW is definitely a mystery. Sunday I will haul another 14k load up to Colorado. Such a solid towing and hauling platform but rating for nothing.
