Ram 3500 5th wheel prep kit installation.

It's been some months, but curious if you ended up installing the puck system yourself? I ordered my truck without thinking I would never go into a 5th wheel and yet here I am... less than 2yrs later and were looking at 5th wheels.
Yes i did
It wasn't that hard, lifted the bed about 6 inches, threw in the pucks and torque them down... I wish i got the 50 gal tank now

I went the same route. It’s not a bad job. Cutting the bed holes is a little stressful but measure twice and send it.

Ya it wasn't that hard as I originally thought it would be... getting the breed up as my hard part.... i could barely reach anything cuz my short ass... i had to use the jack and blocks... my air compressor came in handy finally

So I purchased a 3500 without the 5th wheel prep installed by the factory and none of the 3500 had it on the lot. The sales rep swore that dodge can do the install, but now I'm finding out that the dealer here in Socal won't touch it....I need the 5th wheel prep kit and 7pin harness installed so I can buy my 5th wheel trailer that I picked out... what are my options? I really just want to return the damn truck for the deception.
Call Micah at Dave Smith's in Idaho they do it. Great prices on trucks.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, it's drilling through the bed that gives me anxiety about this install. Watched a few YouTube videos and a couple guys seem to have followed the directions but the hole/holes were still 3/4" off from center. Someone mentioned drilling a pilot hole from underneath if your able to find dead center for reference.

I know it's an old thread, but for those in the same predicament here's a photo of my holes after drilling. (Gooseneck kit only)

Like others said hardest part was getting a helper to put a block of wood between frame and bed as I lifted up the bed.

The truck has everything I needed & wanted but just didn't have the kit installed.

Here's one of the hole saws i used on the bed. I had the 4" already. https://a.co/d/1cR2Qbg20241223_160529.jpg20241223_161829.jpg20250120_094430.jpg
