Hope everyone is doing good. I had my engine drop a valve at 55 k miles. I had the engine replaced and when I got it back. I had it about three weeks. My and my girlfriend was sitting in it in park talking and all of a sudden it sounded like the bottom end was coming apart. I immediately called the shop that installed the engine they towed it in and said that the flex plate had cracked. I had a hard time believing that happened in park idling. So I had it towed to my shop when I pulled the transmission the flex plate wasn't cracked all the bolts holding it on had been over torqued and striped threads from crank and came out. Apparently I lost reverse in the transmissions at the exact same time,. The shop that did it is saying they are not related. That the transmission issue was not caused by the bolts coming loose. I was wandering if anyone had knowledge of that being able to damage the transmission ?

If the bolts were over torqed they would have snapped its more likely they were left loose and the stress from the flex plate moving destroyed the threads on the crank. The losing reverse could be a reall side effect but hard to say without seeing the issue that caused the failure. Would be a huge coincidence though
