Took a 600 road trip, 460 of the miles on flat surface. All highway miles. Left with a full tank, filled her up upon returning home.
30.6 gallons, 598 miles +19.54 mpg hand calculated. 19.9 on the computer.
I was satisfied.

If I do 60 mph on my 22 ctd crew cab 4x4 2500, I will get 24 mpg, hand calculated, with 3.73 gears. But that is not something I can reasonably hold myself to doing. I never could have imagined that a truck/engine combo with the ability to crank 850 ft lbs of torque, could get that kind of mileage.

Yeah, it is a little mind blowing.

I don't do many unloaded open road trips with mine. But I did one with my 18 2500 CTD Megacab. 1800 miles in just over 2 days. All interstate, at 9mph over pretty much the whole way, so 79-84mph. Hand calculated showed a consistent 21.5mpg for the trip. I was very happy with it. EVIC showed 23.5mpg, so it was pretty far off.
