Laramie truck is pearl white night edition 12” screen basic Laramie package plus technology, Big Horn is a Cummins blue sport with heated seats and steering wheel 5th wheel package both pretty close to same price 56K. Will be used for occasional towing not very heavy but mainly used to drive 1000 miles often over probably 25k year. Thoughts

Really depends on preference that that point, the only thing different you will see is fuel millage, the cummins has better millage but the service costs will negate the fuel savings..... do you want to keep the truck a long time if do a diesel is the obvious choice if you trade in every couple years then the hemi is a better deal

I agree with this. I opted for the Hemi because I do not tow as much. If you go to the stealerships, plan on $120+ for oil change service on the Hemi. That is because of the material spec of the oil. It makes it expensive. Diesel you have to find good fueling stations so you don't get bad diesel. That sometimes can be a challenge.

IMHO

My dealershit cost for fuel filters and oil changes is 490+ tax.... good ol canadian pricing

That 0/40 penzoi is a little pricey..but maintenance on either one is not bad if you do it yourself. (Its not hard). the diesel will hold its value better. Plus better mileage.. I'd go with the one you like the best..

Idk about where you are but here just the cost of fuel filters/5w-40 shell syn/ oil filter is 370$ +tax here for the cummins and if you do your own maint the warranty hard to get.... after warranty you can do the cat filter mod and get the maint cost down to 270$

3 gal of the 5 w 40 20$ a gal 60$ ( Rotella t6 or valvoline premium blue) a filter 20$. It's a half hr job.. both fuel filters less then 100 every 15000 miles..for the Cummins
The hemi i did every 5000 . Penzoil is 14$ a quart x 7 or 8 qts plus a 20 filter..
Buy A log book and keep your receipts they have to honor your warranty..
Not sure where you get 270$ you can buy it on.amazon or genos garage . Rural king here has the t6 oil on sale for 14$ a gal sometimes..

Im in canada everything is much more expensive here and i said 370$ with the stock fuel filters thats what the total cost would be for just the material i was a mechanic for 10 years before moving to millwright i am well versed in vehicle servicing lol.... the shell t6 is 50$ each and you need 3 for one cummins service the hemi can be done for under 70$ So its a huge difference

Cummins service here costs
Oil -150$
Oil filter - 30$
Fuel filter block side - 97$
Fuel filter/water separator frame side - 98$
Total 380$ Just for materials no labour thats all subject to 13% tax aswell which brings the grand total to 430$

But blue ia my favorite color. But the night edition looks real cool.

Laramie is my favorite trim. But Tradesman is what I get.

Ah. Decisions

I don't live in Canada..
Cummins
Both mopar filter and separator 97$ every 15000 miles.
Oil 65$ for 3 gal ,can find it cheaper
Oil filter 14$
6.4 hemi
Oil 98$ may find it cheaper.
Filter 14$
I personally would change the hemi more often.
I'm just saying I wouldn't let the maintenance be the deciding factor..

I do not like the smell of diesel fuel. Always someone with a compact car pulled into the diesel pump while all the gas only pumps are open. Weird hearing an engine clang and bang.

That person in the compact car always has to go in and get something while they let it sit in the spot.

Got to worry about bad fuel all the time. There is a water separator for a reason...have to remember to check that.

HEMI.

If you're a low rpm high torque junky get the Cummins, otherwise the Hemi will work fine.

I feel as though with the impending doom the diesel motor is facing they are making it impossible and very expensive to own one. Also from reading a lot on it before choosing myself between the two these modern day diesels probably wont last as long as a traditional diesel from 30 years ago due to the emission equipment. It puts lots of heat and strain on the motors and a diesels worst enemy is heat. Just my .02

I have the exact truck you describe, 4x4 Pearl white exterior and black leather, sunroof, 12" NAV. I love it, the Hemi is an outstanding motor. I get ~12mpg in town with 37s. 16 on the highway. Stock i got 19 highway and 11.5 towing 8k pounds. Just installed the Pedal Commander and i love it even more.

If your not towing much why would you even think of going with a Cummins.
