R V drains Ram starting batteries

Should discharged 5th wheel batteries drain the truck batteries when stopped overnite? I thought it wouldn’t pull off the truck batteries when just hooked up not running. Thanks for help!

Yup it can and will. You need one of these in the charge circuit from the truck. It isolates the truck batteries from the trailer when not running.

Wouldn’t unplugging the trailer’s umbilical from the truck prevent battery drain in the truck?

Yes. If you remember to do it. For 40 bucks, that relay is cheap insurance against being stranded.

Installed one of these on a pontoon boat I had for the start battery. Worked like a charm.
