Quick exhaust mod with Pics

So IMO the stock PW exhaust is so ugly (at least on my truck). First of all, the rear tailpipe hung way too low for my taste and I've seen pics of other wagons and mine seemed to be more obtrusive than others. I considered an aftermarket system but I actually prefer the stock noise levels. Another issue I had was the ugly resonator....I thought about removing it and doing an axle dump but again I don't want a loud truck that drones like crazy on the highway. So I decided to take 20 mins and do the next best thing and grab a saw & some high temp paint. It's nothing crazy but I personally think it looks 100x better and I retained the stock system. Just wanted to share with the community. Thx!

Get rid of the resonator, use the pipes you cut off to tuck it up where it belongs, and add a nice tip on it.

How bad is the drone?

None. Sound is just a little louder than stock. But nothing obnoxious.
85K miles later and still no drone or issues.

I agree the stock look with the tip and resonator where it was was just terrible. I ended up with the Borla cat back exhaust they have for the 6.4l and I love it. Good sound, loud when you want it to be and no drone. Nice black chrome 5" top too.

Can you post a video of the interior sound level when you are at 3-4k rpms (like heavy towing acceleration)?

Mine is stock and it is loud enough in the cab in those conditions, but on light acceleration it’s quiet.

The Borla isn't going to be quieter than the stock exhaust if that's what you are looking for. It's for sure loud when you are on the gas. But it's not bad at all if you accelerate lightly.
I can try to get a video for you but like I said, if you're thinking the stock is loud enough at those rpms then you're probably not going to want to go with this set up.

My concern is towing longer distances as the noise would be tiring especially on long grades.
