Questions about fuel additives

New to the diesel game. I will add HSS EDT to every fill up.

My questions:

1. If you don't have Rambox, where and how do you store your additive bottle?

2. How do you add it without making a mess?

I only add it when I get home. I'll throw some in the bed if I go on a trip >700 miles

I keep a funnel in a ziplock bag in the rear driver side door along with the bottle of HSS EDT. Stays clean enough that way for me. I have some gas-off wipes and gloves if I come across a diesel pump without any paper towels handy.

The smell of additives makes me feel like a migraine is coming. Hoppes #9 does that too. I have to keep my go-juice in the bed/toolbox. OTOH, Diesel smells better than napalm on a cool dewy morning.

I keep a short roll of the blue shop towels and gloves handy under the back seat fold flat and also in the toolbox. That way when my feeble old mind forgets the toolbox is locked I have something ready.

Also new to diesel. Are y’all adding at every fill and if so how much and what are the downsides of not using anything?

I finally settled on using plastic bottles that fit capless tank (like injector cleaners). Will be prefilling them with 2oz of EDT and reusing them.
I also bought a PVC pouch to store the bottles and it will be hanged on one of the bed hooks.
That should be pretty mess less.

I add 3/4 of a 16 oz of Diesel kleen at home after I fill-up, also add a bottle to my transfer tank.

I like the Hot Shots Secret brand of additives. I keep them in the back left ammo box on my Decked system along with a funnel. I add according to their label during fill ups. I drive a lot and this works for me, got the truck 11/7/19 and have over 35K miles currently.
