Just out of curiosity is the fuel filler door locked when truck is locked or is it always able to open. 2020 3500 limited. If open will the locking caps from Genos work?

Cant comment on a Limited. But on my 3500 tradesman gas the door does not lock.

Genos has the 19+ locking fuel and def caps available

It doesn't - but thats what it should do - only access the fuel door if the drivers door is unlocked.

Would be nice but it is just something else to break. That is one thing that I dont want stuck shut haha

All our other vehicles had locking doors except our Jeep Wrangler and my F350 but it was 20 years old. Would have been nice just 1 less key to look for but I will be putting the locking fuel and def caps on

Have you ever had your fuel tampered with? In all my years I’ve never had locking gas caps and not once has someone messed with it.

Yes. Vindictive ex wife Plus why give some teenager out to no good an easy opportunity. Kids do stupid things all the time Plus my wife being a cop seems there are a lot of people who like to jack with cops. So the answer is yes I prefer to keep my fuel locked

I've never had it happen, but I would rather it be siphoned off if someone is going to steal fuel, than what I heard happens to some with a locking fuel cap. Thieves drill a hole in the tank, no thanks, mine will remain unlocked.

I e had mine locked 20+ years and never had a fuel theft or someone drilling holes. I’m more worried about someone putting something in the tank rather than taking fuel out. Replacing a fuel tank is much better than pumps filters lines injectors internal engine. We all have our opinion I respect your decision to not have one but me personally I will have them

Thankfully I nor anyone I am close with has ever had a fuel theft or vandalism (that i know about). I would consider an aftermarket keyed locking cap, but don't like the idea of the cover being locking. So easy to get out of alignment and now not open.

Maybe if gas spikes back up in cost I will more seriously consider. But either way be it fuel or anything on or in the vehicle, if a thief wants it he will get it or destroy something trying. :(

Yes. A thief will get to the fuel anyway they can. Thieves chose the easiest targets. Locking cap basically means move on to another vehicle. I’ve Leary’s been concerned with someone putting something IN. I have Law Enforcement on my vehicles. The locking cap really can’t get out of aligned. It’s a simple door latch. A lot of vehicles have them my wife’s FCA Grand Cherokee included. Was just a question before spending money on locking caps

I was referencing the door on the body to get to the fuel fill/cap. Those can get out of whack. Especially in winter months.

As I respect your opinion.

I just haven't ever known a single person who has had their fuel tampered with, except for stolen. I own a bunch of heavy equipment and semi trucks also, and never once had anyone pour something malicious into their tanks, and they sit around job sites, no locking caps on anything. Had someone steal diesel from a loader once, it cost me about 1/4 tank of fuel is all. Now had they decided to drill into it if really determined to steal the fuel, i bet that would have been a minimum $10,000 and the machine down a few days out of service. I also try not to piss people off on a regular basis, to make them an enemy, who may have reason to sabotage me. Although having met a few people who do seem like they try to be abrasive, those people are maybe a bit more of a target. It just doesn't seem fuel sabotage is a real issue in the six towns/cities I've lived in my life. Even in the big city of Vancouver, never had any issues ever except occasionally someone throwing a fast food bag or drink cup into the box of my pickup...I guess carrying it to a garbage can would have just been too much work ;)
