Figured I would start a heated discussion/debate about oil

Ran the 5.7 using Schaeffer oil and was pleased with it. I know the 6.4 is a different beast with the 0w-40. Looking to see what others are doing and what to avoid.

On some other forum I have seen a lot of discussion on the use of 5w-30 weight oils in our engines, a bunch of stuff about quieting hemi tick, all kinds of stuff about which oil filter is best. What are your guys thoughts on this, which oil is best to use, who makes the best filters?

I'm on my third truck with the 6.4. I just use the 0-40 PUP and change it sooner than what the oil life indicator says. Around 5K miles. No issues. The 0-40 PUP is less expensive now days so I'm not going to run it out trying to get every last bit of life out of it. (shrug)

The biggest thing for those engines is to keep the idle hours as low as possible.

Oil threads will end up as you expect.
