Hello!

I'm new to the forum and have seemingly whittled down my search for a new (to me) truck to be a 2019+ Power Wagon in the most general of terms. That said, I have had some difficulty locating a drilled-down approach of showing differences between model years, packages, common "gotchas", etc. to find the year and packages to go for. I've owned a relatively eclectic list of vehicles, and with that, I've enjoyed the research that comes along to make the decision to pull the trigger. I'm surprisingly hitting a wall to dig those details up short of going to a myriad of sources to compile random nuggets I can find.

Am I doing a poor job of searching to find something that breaks this down? My end goal is to make a decision after seeing all of the model year changes, which "level" package includes what, et al to land at (example) a "2022 with Level 1 and Ram Box" is the truck I need to go locate.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
Tyler

I think the bigger question to start with is what features are a must have for you. Then you can narrow down the features.
Do you need all of the electronic gadgets? Or are you OK without them?
Do you want leather, cloth or a 75th anniversary edition special?

I have a 2022 with level 2 package I ordered. The main things I had to have was 1. the surround view camera system. This is a big truck and I use the cameras often. I am also glad I got the high end trailer tow package that came with digital rear view mirror so I could add a rear camera after I added RTT so i still get a clear picture of what is behind me. I also wanted the bench seat setup in front and you can't get it with a level 3 setup in 2022 so I got the level 2 and added the other packages that the level 3 came with. The lack of level 3 now means that I do not get the large center screen or the front bucket seat with huge center console neither of which I wanted.

Yea really you can’t go wrong they are all pretty much built the same depends on the creature comforts you want, me thinking back on it I wish I would’ve got the 360 camera and the upgraded sound system thinking back when I ordered my 22 but really it’s no hindering me from enjoying it. It is a big truck so having that front view camera would be so convenient and the basic stock system is so underwhelming I’m not a sound person that I must crank music at all time but with the stock speakers you can turn it to its max and still have a full blown conversation with your passengers.

I hear ya, but I suppose that I'm looking at it the other way. What are the features (standard = X, Level 1 = Y, Level 2 = Z; in 2022, feature "Q" was dropped in favor of feature "N"; This color was only available on year "X"; the manual transfer case stick in the floor was dropped with "X" option or after year "Y"; etc.). I unfortunately don't necessarily know what a 75th Anniversary Edition is and what the delta of options are to justify pursuing one. Is there any reason to consider a "pre-Stellantis" Ram? I think for the Power Wagon that would be 2019-2020 Model Year trucks? I realize I'm spit balling on examples here, but just trying to give out reasons why I'm looking for an overall picture for the trucks. I'm planning to purchase to keep as long as it mechanically will allow, so I'm hoping to grab a "greatest hits" of sorts for the truck.

By having the full list of info in front of me, I can make a decision on what features I do want, I don't want, and can concede because it's not worth the extra coin.

At a minimum I know that I want some creature comforts primarily being that of leather and a larger screen.

Camera would be nice! We have that in one of our Land Cruisers, and it's a great feature to have - especially when parking

2021 was the 75th Anniversary of the Power Wagon, so they made a special build for that year.
Unfortunately some of the stuff that was supposed to be 75th only got carried over to the next year.
One of the big ones was the leather bucket seats with center console on tan leather. I believe that was the first year the PW was given bucket seats.
The grill was a throw back to the original jail bar grill and also got carried over.

Another question for the masses - where is the best place to look for one of these? I use the the typical outlets such as Autotrader. Any common location for Power Wagons specifically?

Great detail - thanks!

Here are the ordering guides 2024 and 2023, so you can see what is what depending on year. Packages and options change from year to year. I could not find the 2022 and earlier ordering guides.

Also when looking online at used Power Wagons, you can look up the options using the VIN on this website,

Great detail! I’ll sort through this evening!

Most critical random item you want is dual alternators for the Winch. So worth it I would ,make sure the unit you look at has it. In 2025 on you simply order the power pack. Beyond that, more personal preference I think. A PW is basically a package in itself and not a ridiculous amount of options. For me, its a once in a decade or so purchase, so I get everything I want, why nit pick over. This time around I went no sun roof, and not the road nanny package. But that's about it. Rock sliders are important, but aftermarket has you covered.

Digging through this now. I think THIS is what I was looking for. ALL the detail. Bravo...

Now I just need them for 2019-2022!

Did you try doing a Google search for each model year Power Wagon to see the options?
Quick and easy way to get them.
I just looked up the 21 PW and it showed all the options and packages.
Just takes a little effort on your part my

Wolfbox makes a good 3 camera system that replaces the rear view mirror and also acts as a recorder. My son put one on his jeep and am very impressed with it if you need to add cameras to one you find.

I like that idea

I found what I had initially believed to be the right truck aside from color (not the biggest fan of black vehicles despite me currently owning one and who knows how many in the past). It is rightly optioned strictly from the perspective of I wanted some extra bells and whistles. This one's whistles add about $15k in options over a base Power Wagon. This is a 2022 with <40k miles with one owner purchased and serviced since new at the one location in inland Florida (not near the coast, so no salt issues), but I am looking to purchase from a dealer that has no affiliation.
  • Level 3 Equipment Group
  • RamBox with the in bed adjustable tie downs, LED lights, bed liner, and dividers (I think the dividers are MIA - I didn't see them at least)
  • Digital rearview camera (it's on the options list, but I did not see this - can someone explain this feature? I was expecting the rearview mirror to just be a small screen instead of a true mirror?)
  • Adaptive Steering (bleh)
  • Trailer camera wiring
  • Diamond Black Crystal Pearl monotone paint
I had assumed that Level 3 would get 360 camera, but if the truck does have it, I could not figure out how to make it work. That was the item of note for me in terms of features I feel I would miss, but still having a backup camera and the ability to "easily" add two more auxiliary cameras may cover my need.

Pictures definitely look better than the truck presents in person. It is clear that it had been used for some work with a fair amount of fair scratches - predominately on the top of the bed sides (Ram Box lids); it would appear things may have been in the bed of the truck and then pulled over the top of the bed instead of out of the tailgate. I'm working with my detailer to see what the reality is to get these buffed out, but I'm almost a little relieved the scratches are there and will free me up to use the truck more openly. Nothing that I can get a finger nail to grab or anything, so all superficial as best as I can tell.

It is close to the life cycle of the OEM 33's. Factory spare is in place and not used. Having a glass-half-full outlook tells me the door is open to just go ahead and grab 35s or 37s even.

The leather on the dash where it would be pinched underneath the plastics near the windshield is no longer pinched. The best way I can describe it is that the dash saw too much Florida sun and cause the leather to lose its adhesion. It is completely loose where it would be "fastened" near the windshield. This is my biggest problem, but is this common? Seems crazy to think that the leather upholstery has come undone in 3 years?

The driver side Ram Box doesn't seem to close flush towards the rear. While I don't plan to permanently store items in there, I also don't want to worry about leaks should I have something in there traveling somewhere during a rain storm. Are these adjustable?

Passenger rear door intermittently "pops" when closing. It looks like the spring-loaded latch that goes across the roller may have a sharp point on it? Or maybe the spring needs to be greased? Has anyone else noticed this before?

Mechanically the truck seems solid. Regular maintenance. I called the original selling and servicing dealer and had a great conversation with a service advisor there that was willing to walk through every single service visit over the phone. It's nice to see actual customer service nowadays... The only thing that stood out is the blend door for the A/C had to be replaced at about 25k miles (I'm wondering if this has anything to do with why the dash leather is loose?). Not sure how invasive of a repair this may be? Everything else is strictly regular maintenance.

Truck has no leaks, not even a dusting of the presence of corrosion, all fluids are where they should be and the color they should be. Zero evidence of anything ever done offroad in the truck - no undercarriage scratches, no mud, no sand, just a super clean truck underneath. Drives great, shifts great. Overall, I think it's a good truck, but it's evident that it was used as a truck probably hitting some jobsites. I am thinking that I can get this for a really good deal comparing to others and KBB values, but I also know that I'll need to toss a few grand at it right out the gate between tires, detail, and dash upholstery.

The three items I have in bold above are the items of main concern to me. Are these "typical" concerns and are they easily addressed? What do you feel is a fair price to purchase knowing the above?

On my 2024, the 360 Surround Camera system is a) engaged anytime I put the truck in reverse, I get the full top-down view along with the reverse cam, and b) according to my window sticker, it may actually be part of the Towing Technology Group? That's where it was listed on my '24 anyway. Entirely possible it's different in earlier years.

The 'AC Blend Door' thing is part of a TSB/"fix" for lackluster A/C performance. No idea how invasive it is, though I thought i recall someone posting pics their dealer sent and the entire dash was pulled out to access, but I could be thinking of something else.

It's possible the dash issue is tied to the AC Blend Door, especially if my memory isn't faulty - but I would say if everything else fits what you're after, just ask the dealer to fix it as a condition for purchase if the truck otherwise is in good shape.

Ah thanks! Good to know of the TSB - I hadn't realized that.

For the camera, what I see on the window sticker for the truck that is of relation is below. Doesn't seem that this truck got the 360 camera. Googling shows that it is possible to retrofit but is involved.

Standard
ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera
ParkSense Front and Rear Park-Assist System

Options
Tow-Mode Digital Rear-View Mirror Package (Wired Tow-Mode Camera + Digital Rearview Mirror)
Trailer Camera Wiring (No Camera)

My drivers side Rambox doesn’t shut really tight and it doesn’t leak water in even going through the auto car wash.
Thanks for the feedback! The reason it stuck out to me is the passenger side RamBox lid appears pretty flush with the rest of the truck bed. The driver's side lid is probably1/4" - 3/8" raised, however. Moreso towards the rear.
