Unless the inverter draws power on its own, I’m not worried about it killing the battery. All I’m doing is charging dog collars. I don’t want to mess with adding a 20 volt.

inverters do draw even when they are not in use up to 2 amps in standby. That is why they shut off when you shut your truck off and have to turn them on again when you restart.

My Jeep has an inverter on the back of the console. There is no switch you just plug something in and it works, same thing in my 2017 1500.

Why are features so inconsistent between models?

I assume you mean the one in the bed as the inside one has no switch on mine, if its the one in the bed im sure it has something to do with the fact that its out in the elements

Well in OP's case and mine in the RamBox actually so not really out in the elements.

So, I guess I have to do a 20v. Not the end of the world. Just wanted something easier. Lol

Thanks for the replies!

Maybe you could put something like a Jackery battery in the Rambox. Use the jackery to power things and plug the jackery into the truck outlet to charge while the truck is running.
