Hey guys!! I'm pretty new to the diesel scene due to acquiring a new fifth wheel camper. I started daying driving my new to me 22 2500 to work. All of a sudden 3 weeks within getting the truck my check engine light comes on. I have a code reader and it showed a P2459 code ( Regeneration Frequency). Took it back to the dealership (Still under warranty) and they pretty much said I'm not driving it long enough for the Regeneration to finish. I drive 17 minutes to work every day and they pretty much laughed at me I said that. My question is ... is there anything I can do to stop this issue or any helpful tips. Like fuel additives, or anything really. Thanks yall!!

Take it back to the dealer and ask them to show you where in the owners manual it requires being driven a specific way to avoid check engine lights.

It’s a difficult issue to diagnose, and they are using that as an excuse. Don’t take no for an answer, and get in touch with Ram cares if need be.

I really appreciate all the help. I also read that if the CCV filter is clogged it would effect the DPF. Well it was kinda ironic that when I took it to the dealership they said that the CCV filter needed to be serviced (That code never showed for me), and prior to me getting the truck the dealership just changed the oil. They wanted to charge me $600 to change the CCV filter. I said naw i can do that after doing research ( I am mechanically inclined) and ordered one. But its almost to the point that I'm debating if I want to delete it or not. But on the other hand I still have 30,000 miles to go on my warranty. Its just really frustrating.

I’d at least ride out the warranty, and hold the dealer to properly diagnose the issue. Tunes for these trucks can be pretty bad if you don’t have someone who knows what they are doing.

The CCV filter will take you 15 minutes to change, it’s a piece of cake.

I went through the same issues with my 3500. They kept throwing parts at, EGR valve, sensors even a turbo. Nothing helped until they changed the DPF filter itself. That was at 18000 at 24000 now with no issues so far. Regens around 200 miles around town, Filter shows 0% When pulling camper. Went 900 miles pulling csmper before it went into regen on hours. Had to go through Ram Cares and keep after them though to get filter changed.

Well guys I think the dealership has some explaining to do!!!

The dealership changed my oil when I purchased the truck ( I've only had this truck for a month and a half ). I had to drain almost a gallon out of it to even get it to safe. The CCV filter was completely saturated!!!

Did they investigate your MAF? I day this because i just got mine back from the dealer, and they diagnosed it as a bad MAF. Reading low air flow, thus making the truck thinkbthe DPF was therefore full putting it in to regen at abot 1/3 soot load.

Update guys

The dealership actually figured out the problem and it falls back on the dealership. On the day I bought the truck they did a full service on it. One of the service technicians put the wrong air filter in the truck. He put the old style filter in the truck ( with the glue lines running down the center of the filter). Got the truck back and it looks like we got the problem solved. Thank guys for all the help.
