Hello Ram Owners. I’d like to take a minute or two and introduce myself, my name is Dave and I am currently retired living in Northern Virginia. My Wife and I are having a house, garage and shop built in Pamlico County NC, on one of the creeks. I purchased a Boat and needed something to pull it out of the water and tow it home when the hurricanes come. We had a Colorado 4x4 Z71, but it would only tow 7800 pounds. Our boat with gas is going to be a tad over 10,000 pounds.

So, we sold the Colorado and ordered a new Ram Rebel 2500. We were originally looking at a two door Big Horn Regular Cab, but I could not get a lot of the options I was looking for. Simple stuff like LED light only came with a bench seat, we wanted buckets; couldn’t get the air lift rear suspension without the $10K diesel option, plus salesman pointed out that if/when we’d want to sell it only Contractor would be interested. Basically, a limited market. So not knowing the Rebel 2500 was new model I asked for specs on it and I was able to get what I was looking for and more, so opted for it. After reading articles and watch videos on it, I am very pleased to have selected the Rebel 2500. Our truck is scheduled to be build on 15 Feb and is coming in solid Hydro-Blue, black side steps and Ram Boxes just to name a few of the options.

Questions: 1 Are the doors and body used on the 2023 2500 Rebel the same as the other 2500 crew cabs/years? Reason I am asking I am looking to install window vents. I am not a smoker, just like cracking the windows on warms day and when it’s raining for ventilation.

2. Opinions on those LED brake, turn and back up lights strips that go under the tailgates? I haven’t seen one but watching the videos and seeing the pictures it’s going to set high and with the taillights being so high might not be a bad idea to have some lights lower in the rear.

3. What about installing the LED light bar on the grill, just under the RAM logo, just for more light at night. Keep in mind Pamlico County NC, only has two traffic lights in the entire County and less than 12,500 people, roads are dark at night and there are deer and bear in the County. I’d rather see then and not hit them.

Thanks

Dave

Congratulations on your new truck! Did you go with the Hemi or the Cummins? And you are going to love that Air Suspension for towing. I tow a 9000 pound Airstream and the air suspension keeps everything nice and level. Please post some pictures once you get it.

Thanks for the link tchur1, I will check them out for sure.

JohnandDonna, I went with the 6.4, diesel is over $5 per gallon in NC plus another $10k to the price. Our builder has a diesil and recommended a gas. I got the 3.73 rear end, I know that drops my towing ability down to slightly below the diesel but it’s still somewhere around 14,500 pounds. The 4.10 would have gotten me 16,500+ but you pay for it every mile. I’ll post some pics once I get it.

Ok picked up my truck a few weeks ago, and as requested here are a few pics. I had a Colorado before and man this is a big truck. I really like its everything I was looking for. It has a 6.4L with rear air suspension and Ram boxes.
