Does anyone know if it's possible for the dealer to make a change to the order (gear ratio change) if it's still in D status without changing the price protection or possibly delaying the order?

I have seen it happen but it was rare. Most of the time when you ask for a change in D they say no changes can be made.

I tried to do this as well, but once the VIN is assigned, the build is locked in. I realized need to add a front license plate holder to mine, but the dealer said it’s too late. Fortunately that’s a minor inconvenience and minimal cost for me to fix.

The only other option that I can think of is to walk away from the deal and start again. But prices will be higher, so it might be a wash.

If I was in your shoes, I’d take it with the 3.73 and see how it goes, and then start shopping for a 4.10 upgrade if you really need it.

I’ve spoken to several “long term” Hemi HD guys who swore by the 4.10 when they had their old 6 speed trucks, but are reporting that the 8 speed makes a world of difference.

If you’re getting a CTD, you might be stuck in 5th gear if your load is really heavy…..

It's not really a big deal, im only pulling about 20k with it a dozen times a year, but I was planning on going up a tire size when the stocks wear out, having 4.10s would help offset that some, but in reality there is less than 200 rpm difference between 4.10 and 3.73.
I didn't think it was possible, but I figured I would ask.

It probably depends how big you want to go. I heard that there are plenty of guys running 35s with the standard diff. The 4.10 option would be highly desirable if you want to run 37s.

But you could still ask your dealer if they can change it. Buy a lottery ticket if they say yes

I would only go up to a 255/80r17, which is only about an inch bigger than the 235's they come with stock, I'll probably just stick with the 3.73's. I was pulling the trailer with an '18 3500 srw with 3.42's and almost a 34" tire and it did pretty good, I mainly want the stability that the dually offers, the srw could get a little unsettled in the corners.
