I have just become the proud owner of a 2019 3500 4x4 with a Maxcab, RAMBOXes, and a 6'4" bed. It also has the factory rails with the cargo tie down hooks, but it did not come with a bed cover.

I started out wanting a topper, but realize that unless I get a topper lift, it's not possible with ramboxes. Even a canvas one would be great, but softopper doesn't make one for ramboxes and it would look weird. I'm happy with the rambox. I wouldn't change my choice. I can live with just a bed cover. I'd also like to keep the factory rails/tie downs and to be able to easily open and close the unit.

So, of course I started with the 2019 Truck cap/topper/camper shell thread which is incredibly helpful. And led me the the phenomenal looking and very expensive Diamondback HD. Which looks like a good option with the Front Runner Rack System. But it's not cheap. We're looking at $2700 plus shipping.

The Roll n Lock A Series looks perfect, but is not available for RAMBOX, like the entire Peragon series. The Roll n Lock M series looks almost as good, as is available for RAMBOX-equipped vehicles. I can't figure out if I can keep the factory rails. Their website specifies very (un)clearly:

OE cargo management tracks will be utilized or removed & discarded for installation of Roll-N-Lock(R) unit. Impedes use of OE accessories. Consider Cargo Manager(R) option.

Retrax Pro MX looks just like the Roll n Lock M series but is almost as expensive as the Diamondback.

BAK REVOLVER X4S looks like it works with the OEM rails, but I'm not sure how durable it is. And it's one of the better priced option.

Has anyone else had this debate and where did you land / how happy are you?

Thanks in advance for your help!

it would be a mega cab not a maxcab….. i dont know how the rambox compatible covers are but depending how you use the bed i would look for the smallest profile one you can find for when its folded up as you are already limited on bed space

thanks @H3LZSN1P3R. You're right. Mega. Not sure how MAX came across my fingers!

I'm not so concerned with how it rolls up because I figure I'll take it off when I need to use the bed's height. Mostly, I'll be using it to keep things dry / safe when carrying tool boxes, tools, etc.

Thanks!

Thanks @Chrisminx - for anyone who finds this thread later, those are links to the offical MOPAR store OEM bed covers. The first link is the soft cover on "sale" for only $804.94! and the second is the hard one for a paltry $1,145.00.

Look into BakFlip ..... Love mine.

Do you have rambox bed? If yes, can you please send pictures of the bed clamps. I wanted to see how it is made in combination with bed rails.

Sure

I'll attach some pics when I get finished what I'm doing.

Did you ever decide on which cover to get?
I ended up with a Diamondback HD that I found in their outlet store for 25% off. I'm super happy with how I can put anything on it, and can strap anything to it. The mounting wasn't as nice as I would have like, but I trust that it's going to stay in place even with a load on it. The only drawback is if I want to use the entire bed, I can remove the front and the back panel quickly, but the center section is attached to the bed and would require about 10 minutes of wrenching on my back in the bed to take it off. I rarely need all the space in the bed, so it's not a big deal, but I have had one occasion carrying about 1000 sq ft of flooring and had to make two trips because it wouldn't all fit.

I have the Roll n' Lock M Series and modified the cargo rails so I could reinstall them. They are working well.

Nice, thanks for the reply. I am waiting on my truck to be delivered from the dealership to my house and have been eyeing up the Diamondback HD for a little while.

They have one with the ATV setup on their outlet site now. I don't have ATV's and leaning towards the smoother finish that they offer.

Sorry about the crappy pictures and really dirty truck.... weather's been awful up here. Also, that cover is eight years old and has seen a LOT of action.... Looks beautiful when new..

How well does this keep out water? Could you maybe post some pics of it closed and where/how it seals/runs? Thank you for the info you've already posted!
