Anyone have any ideas on how to pull oil sample from the dipstick with the Blackstone pump? The tube works fine on my 2008 Subaru but it does not want to go in far enough on my 2023 Cummins, it goes in about 3 feet and stops so it’s not getting deep enough to pull the oil…Would rather not drain from the pan if possible.

I have no problems with the pump I got from Amsoil to get my samples so have to ask what size is the tube on your pump?

I’ve had the same issue with the tubing I get with my CAT SOS oil analysis kits. The OD of the tube they supply is too large to fit down through the dipstick tube. It goes down to the point where it transitions into the block but won’t go any further.
I’ve never taken the time to measure the tube diameter, I just pull a sample when draining the oil at the time of changing it. I had thought about buying a live sampling valve and installing it on the truck, possibly on the oil filter housing, so that I could use Cat’s sample probes to pull a sample when the engine is running. Just haven’t had the time to tackle it.

If it’s anything like the older CTDs it has a coupler that is tapped into the block and the dipstick tube slides on to. You most likely are butting the sample tube end up to a piece similar to this:

The 1/4 inch tubing that comes standard from Blackstone is too big to use. I bought a 3/16 fuel line tube at Home Depot to do the job, and then read on Blackstone‘s website that a Cummins needs a smaller tube. Called them and they mailed their smaller tubing no problem.

Update…. Talked to Blackstone and told them the standard 1/4 tube is too big for the 2023 Cummins so they sent me a smaller size and it works perfectly… Also their customer service is excellent! I received everything in 2 days.
