Oil price fluctuation at the dealership

I got an oil change at the dealership and noticed the price was significantly less than the last time I got the oil changed earlier this year. I asked the service writer and she said the oil prices do change from time to time. Guess I never noticed but looking over the record from this trip as compared to the last one, the same part numbers were used and it's a huge difference in price. I also had a tire rotation and had a $20 coupon in both cases that isn't specified below since I'm just asking about oil prices.

I have the Hemi 6.4 motor.

Part no: 4892339BE - Filter $18.92 $10.15
Part no: 68523970AA - Oil $183.45/quart $8.15

Total for visit on 8/27/2024 - $111.35

The purpose isn't to start a discussion on changing my own oil or paying someone else. I'm mostly curious if other people experience the same at their dealership? I've had oil changed at dealerships on a lot of vehicles and it's usually X price for an oil change up to X many quarts.

I don't go to dealer for anything but warranty due to they always frig something up, however last year they quoted 129, I think 2022 it was like 200

Thats just odd there is no way oil prices fluctuated that much the first oil change would be 26$ish a qt so unless they used some sort of gold plated oil bottle that is outrageous and it should have been questioned.

My Amsoil order does not even cost me that for my CTD and my SXS shipped to my door in CAD funds (30% ish more than USD) so they are scamming you and screwing you at that first oil change price.

I would be curious if they had a change of management or ownership at that dealer between oil changes as they could explain the gouging.

I also have my oil changed at the dealer. Last year I bought two prepaid Mopar oil changes online for $160.00, which included tire rotation. Unfortunately, this year I couldn’t find the same deal online. Instead, I found a Mopar coupon online for two oil changes for $130.00. Just do a Duck Duck Go search for Mopar coupons and you should find the coupons online. Hope this helps.
