Oil filter part numbers - so frustrating

I am a new 2500 (gas) owner. I am looking to get supplies for my first oil change and when it comes to a filter, I crawled underneath her and saw the filter it came with has "50055447" on it. When I google that, I don't really get many hits. Some suggestions come up for various Mopar filters, but when I go to any of the links, none of them have "50055447" anywhere on the page - so I can't be sure I am finding the correct one. Even when I search this forum, no hits for 50055447 - which I am guessing it would have come up in some thread at some point.
Why is it so difficult to find this? And why so many different part numbers for a filter? 04892339AB, MO-409, MO-339, MO-899

What I am really looking for is the SRT equivalent to the 50055447 - but if that doesn't exist, I will just stick with the 50055447. Can someone help a n00b out?

What is the "searchable" part number for 50055447?
Is there a SRT equivalent to the 50055447? If so, what is it's part number?

Thanks

Mo-339 is correct filter.
Good luck removing the factory installed filter, that sucker is on there right.

Apparently SRT is MO-899
5038041AA

So the MO-899 is the same filter and size as the stock one, but it is the SRT version? Should I be using that instead of the stock one? I have read in other posts how the Mopar one is not as good quality as the SRT one - and I don't mind paying the extra couple bucks

I’ve read that elsewhere as well…filter thread…wink wink. It’s a deep dive.

My first two oil changes, I purchased a kit from eBay from a mopar dealer. Oil and filters in one. Pre-COVID so prices aren’t comparable but they are still available.

Recently, i bought a few cases of oil on Amazon for around $40 each (~$6ea)

I believe I used MO339 Mopar filter but next oil change will be with a Wix 57060XP

Yeah, MO339 is the one I use. The 889 is for the SRTs and is much larger than the one used for the trucks. I had to go buy one of the clamp type filter wrenches for the factory filter removal. That worked great. Dont bother with the strap wrenches or the like. They wont work. Not sure the below link has the right sized one, but this is the type I used.

I broke the welds on my filter wrench getting that SOB off and the filter looked like a crushed beer can by the time I got it off.
I really want to find a quality set of filter wrenches that actually work well for spin on oil filters. Anybody have any suggestions? I have five vehicles that take spin on filters and they’re all different sizes it seems.

I honestly liked the cartridge style oil filter that my mini-duramax had. The lid took a 27mm (I believe) socket.

K&N filters have nuts (17mm think) on top of them. Use them for ATVs and they work great.

I’ve just gotten a feel for where I can get it hand tight enough that it doesn’t leak but not so tight I can’t get it off by hand next time. I also always rub some motor oil on the seal prior to every install so it doesn’t get stuck. Never had a leak or problem with this method.

Yeah I haven’t had any issues removing the filter by hand after replacing the factory installed one. I put some oil on the o ring and just snug it up by hand, no issue leaking and no issue getting it off again 5k later.

I've always oiled the gasket, then go 1 turn past hand tight. Never had a leak or a problem getting them. Factory ones, I swear they put them on dry and crank on them. Changed mine at 500 miles and was a pain to get off.

I guess I got lucky I changed my 2020 6.4L at 1010 miles the first time and I was able to get the filter off without a wrench and I put it on the same way just hand tight and so far I have gotten off just as easily. my buddy also has a 2020 both are July 2020 builds and he also was able to get his off easily.

So the consensus is to NOT get the SRT one, correct? I should either go with the Mopar 339 or Wix 57060XP? I probably prefer the Wix but I got an aftermarket warranty with my truck, and I dont know if they are going to push back if I use non-Mopar products.

Wix makes the mopar filters (or atleast used to)
