I know this has been discussed forever, but saw something interesting on my oil bottles.
Im still stuck in the past and change my oil every 5K miles. Old habits are hard to break.

I've used Castrol Edge full syn oil since day one. Truck now has 90K miles and no issues.

But today, when changing my oil, I noticed this on the oil cans.

They both exceeded the same specs, but the regular says good to 20K miles while the high milage says 15K miles.

Either way, am I wasting money and oil by not doing 10K mile intervals? I need this truck to last me.

Your thoughts or proof.

Got to go change the oil in the tractor now.

Just do the suggested 8k mile factory change interval if your wanting to get more use of the oil.

I have used the oil change monitor. And I do have noisy lifters at 205K. My next one I will probably go in when the monitor shows 1/8th or so left.

The Castrol Extended Performance was 20,000 miles and is 25,000 miles because it's 50 times better, not just 10 times better like the regular stuff. Guaranteed*

*Try to prove a large corporation 's marketing on an oil bottle label wrong.

My oil monitor said 47% with about 5K miles on it.
Most of my driving now is highway as we live 30 miles from town, out in the boonies.

Change it according to the oil change indicator and don’t stress it.

Most my rigs just get 12 month oil changes but the Hemi and the wife’s JT go off the oil change indicator.

I’ve been doing the 5k oil change routine she I got my truck, but to each his own. I wouldn’t go over what the oil life monitoring system say.

The oil is likely fine, but the tiny filter is probably spent by the end of the dash oil life.
