Reaching the point of needing to do an oil change in my new 2025 RAM 3500, wondering if anyone has had any luck with sourcing the oil filter (68677810aa). Kind of crazy that none of the dealers or web sites I've touched base with have oil filters in stock and are listed backordered. I'm assuming the new fuel filters aren't in stock yet either. Anyone out there have a secret source to contact? I'm sure RAM will say you can go 7,500 miles between oil changes but I'm old school and am not comfortable with that level of miles on first oil change.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated

Is the new 25 still 15,000 oil change and fuel filter change schedule? If so and you are not comfortable with leaving the oil in that long at least drop the oil and replace that if filters aren’t available yet. I believe you should pull the filter to let that housing drain. Then you can inspect the filter for contaminants as well. Talk to your selling dealer and see if they have any or if not to get on the waiting list.

ya, I dont need an oil change but kind of unreal that not only are these trucks so late to get delivered, they dont even have basic parts like oil filters available.

What gets me is even if the 2025 Mopar oil filters become available the price ($83.25 MSRP) for one is going to be around 4 times that of the Fleetguard Stratapore filters I just purchased for our new 2024 3500.

IIRC Mopar Giant had them listed for under $60 last time I looked, that is still a lot higher than the $52 I pay for 3 each Donaldson DB 7349L oil filters delivered.

Guess it's best to compare Mopar to Mopar filters. Geno's Garage (where I purchased my Fleetguards Synthetic filters) sells the Mopar MO-285 for my 2024 at $12.45. Geno's haven't listed the 2025 Mopar filter. Even if it was listed at $50 versus the $56.69 of IIRC Mopar Giant that's one 2025 Mopar filter versus four 2024 Mopar filters for the same price. Just makes it more expensive to do an oil change.

the placement of the previous oil filter was such a disaster, ill pay for more the filters to have them in a convenient to service location.

as time goes on, the price will come down.

Mine were shipped out today from Geno's...

Curious what you guys think about Walmart selling OEM MOPAR filters for a fraction of the price that dealerships charge. I just paid $35 for a set of MOPAR fuel filters (68157291AA, 68436631AA) and $15 for an oil filter. Walmart states that they, and selected online 3rd party sellers, purchase them from the same manufacturer as the dealerships. If Walmart can sell the same filter for $15-20 and make their required margin, then think how much we’re getting ripped off paying $55-60 to online parts sellers and $95-150 at dealership parts dept. Counterfeit parts seem to be a growing concern on many low-cost high margin parts. The filters appear identical to the ones I’ve purchased at dealerships. I’m no Walmart fan but hate getting ripped off on overpriced parts.

I’d be weary if I were you. If you’re purchasing online, Walmart uses a marketplace similar to Amazon and we all know ( or most do ) about the counterfeit filters from there. I myself prefer a reputable source for filters I.e. Geno’s vs saving what amounts to a few bucks for my expensive engine option. BTW, dealerships are almost always more expensive. YMMV.

Once you get over the short term hump, just stock filters from one of the following sources:

Updating my previous post on Walmart selling OEM MOPAR filters. I purchased a set of fuel/water separator filters off Walmart’s marketplace. The filters I received from seller “Advance-Saving” were 100% fake counterfeits. I would not purchase these filters from any 3rd party seller on their marketplace platform. However, I would buy and trust the quality of the product if the seller was Walmart. Some TX Walmart’s are starting to stock MOPAR parts. As with everything, buyer beware, and the adage that if the price is too good to be true, it probably is.

Walmart online is just redneck temu.
