New to the truck world, and am looking to buy another set of wheels/tires for when I'm planning on offroading to the dunes or washes. Just looking at the stock tires I wouldn't be comfortable doing anything other than pavement of packed dirt. What's a decent setup that wont break the bank? '21 2500 6.7

Welcome to HDRAMS ! Hang around and I'm sure you will get some good advice, just not from me. I'm in the midwest and see a lot of gravel roads and mud but I endorse Faulken Wilpeaks I've run them on my trucks for years.

Thank you! Yeah I just got orders to Yuma, AZ so I know I'll be in Glamis a lot. Everything out there is desert, so I think it would be good to have a dedicated extra set for when I'm heading out for the weekend

I did some research for tires that were good in the sand dunes when i was shopping for some for my purpose built K5 Blazer.

I wound up going with BFG mud terrains as they had the best sand rating. Tey worked great both on and off road and I never had an issue with getting stuck. I aired down to 20-25 lbs when I'd go out and hit the dunes.

But if you look at the off road race tires we use down in Baja, they have more of a all terrain pattern. Most people call them BFG projects.

I had Cooper Discover AT3's on my F250 and had no issues pulling a 25' toy hauler into the dunes with them. I just aired down and had to put it in 4WD lo when I first got into the dunes as it started digging in in 4WD hi.

I've got 35" Kenda Klever R/TS in 35x12.5R17. And wildpeak AT3W in 285/75R18.

Both really nice tires, the wildpeaks are really nice genuinely All terrain tires, they have great road manners but also do very well off-road and in the mud & snow.

The Kendas are definitely a more aggressive tire straddling the line between A/T & M/T tires. They are a bit noisy on the road, but nothing compared to a lot of M/T's I've seen, they still handle well on the pavement and do pretty good in the snow. Of course with these they really shine off road.

Also at the time fall 2021 I got the Kendas from Walmart.com $209 per tire, and I got the wildpeaks a year earlier for $229 per tire from Amazon.

Never had an issue with my 35" 12.5 R20 Toyo Mts or RTs towing a 40' toyhauler in glamis. Brother in law drove his truck up Olds with his 37" MTs at 18psi, just cruising.

I've ran BFG Projects, Toyo MTs and the old Yoko ATs out at Glamis on my 07 Cummins. They all did well, but the Yokos did the best in the sand. That tire is no longer made. All were the 37 x17 flavor. I went with the hybrid Yoko X-AT on my 2020 but I haven't had them out to Glamis.
