OEM wireless charger and BCM

I was considering adding the wireless charger to my truck but see it requires a connection to the BCM. I can’t imagine what functionality that could provide to a simple charger.
Any ideas?

Everything seems to be run through the bcm, even the friggen horn..

I put an Anker wireless charging pad plugged into the rear USB. It sits in the bottom of the console and I just lay my phone on it. Cost $15. Install: 2 minutes. Works great.

I can vouch for the fact that it will not work without, not only being connectef, but also have the sales code in the BCM. Mine did not work when I picked my 2020 up and the fix was to add the sales code to the BCM and reflash.

I added the oem wireless charger to my ‘23 a few months back. There is an orange/blue lin bus wire behind the center stack that you can tap into instead of trying to get up under the dash.
