Have you checked on top of the fuel tank? That’s a less obvious location. But probably something up by the engine, evaporating before you can spot it. Better catch it fast! Time to do some detective work, I’m sure a line has a pinhole in it from rust somewhere…
Very possible it's the charcoal vent filter on the tank itself. I think its called an Evap Canister or something like that. A friend of mine at work just had to replace his. His truck constantly smelled like gas when parked in the lot. He changed that out and it fixed the issue. Worth a shot to start there. Good luck!
