Ok, On my 2022 I had the gain set at 7.5 and it was perfect for my driving.

On my 2024 I have it set at 10 and it feels inadequate.

I drag a 13Klb 5th wheel all over full time. I spend anywhere from 2 weeks to a month at one place.
Except I usually spend about 6 weeks or so on a friends property in New Mexico.
While parked at his place, my 2022 was eaten by a pack of dogs.... LOL, they chased dinner up the underside and ruined it.
How I ended up in a 2024.

I had put zero miles on the RV. I wanted to put about 1000 miles on the new truck before towing, so the RV stayed parked for about 3 1/2 months, maybe 4.
I noticed within 5 miles I had to crank up the gain to max before I was comfy with it. RV brake system is the same with no wear.

I am curious if there is a voltage delivery issue on the gain control or possible AlfaODB setting change option.

Is that crazy talk?

How did you set your trailer in the system? For trailers that have controllable brakes, there are 4 options. Light Electric, Heavy Electric, Light EOH, Heavy EOH. Make sure you have it set for Heavy Electric or Heavy EOH as appropriate for your trailer.

Have you tried setting the gain according to the manual?

It's something like: rolling at 25mph, engage trailer brakes fully. If brakes do not lock up, adjust gain higher. Repeat until wheels lock, then back down one click on the gain.

Doing this sets your gain appropriately, and will also tell you if you have a problem.

What do you mean by gain setting? (I am a new owner of a 2020 3500 Dually about to tow 30K of hay on a regular basis on my new 24' Gooseneck (2 - 15K axles) so looking for knowledge base here).

Press the + or - on the trailer brake controller. This will adjust the amount of gain. The display should show you the number when you hit the + or -. It is an adjustment for how aggressive the trailer brakes are when you hit the brakes in the truck.

Edit to add: You'll also want to make sure you select the right type of brakes for your trailer as I mentioned earlier. If you have electric brakes, you'll want Heavy Electric if hauling 30K lbs. Heavy EOH if you have electric over hydraulic. If towing that trailer after you drop off the hay, you'll want to adjust the gain down for empty, otherwise the brakes will lock up too quickly.
