A few months back I purchased an OBDLink Mx+ to read/reset codes, and monitor some parameters on occasion (EGT Temps, Regen Info, etc.). I currently use the OBD Link app on my Android.

I recently made a dashboard to see what the PIDs showed for average distance & time between regens. Attached is a recent snapshot of the dashboard.

My 3500 has 16k+ miles, with 60+ % towing a TT. Last regen was around 16k. The truck has only actively regened on the 24 hour mark since new (I watch the hours and DPF screen fairly closely).

Last regen was at 441 total engine hours & 16k miles, so it would have been regen #18. Miles between regens would be 889 doing the math. Fairly close to the 964 miles OBD shows. However, the average time between regens on the OBD dashboard is 1921 minutes. This equals about 32 hours, well above the 24 hour active regen schedule. Not sure what this PID might represent.

Just curious if anyone has looked at these two OBD parameters, and what your experience was.

I don’t think those PID’s are accurate. I’ve tracked every regen and the PID’s aren’t even close.

Average time between regens says 920 minutes, that's 15.3 hours. My records show average time of 22 hours (mostly 24 hour regens).
Average distance shows 410 miles. My records show 723 miles average between regens.

Mine seems more accurate on the time between regens for some reason, I was at 1540 minutes last time and about the same on the regen before that. I have only had 24 hour regens so far in the 9k miles that I've owned it

That’s 26 hours between regens, not really even close to accurate at 100 minutes off.

This paints an inconsistent picture . Looks like these PIDs can be added to the list that don't display accurate/usable data.

How are you tracking, could you have missed some and maybe it’s happening more frequently than you know?

I have a CTS3 that shows me when it is in regen, and how it’s progressing to the next regen.

Most of mine have been 24 hour regens and I know the hour, plus or minus a little based on how the hour meter works, that they will happen.

So it’s very unlikely I’ve missed any regens.
