ok so full disclosure... ive done a google search and cant find my answer, im new to the diesel world and dont know much about it. I own a 2016 Ram Cummins turbo diesel 2500. My question is, should i be driving with my exhaust brake on in full or auto? is there a difference? should i only use it while towing? can i damage anything by using it or not? i have questions but no answers, please help.

You wont do any damage driving around with it turned on unloaded, plenty of people do it.
Full exhaust break will engage the EB whenever you take your foot off the gas, it works better when in tow/haul mode on my truck.

Auto will only engage the EB when your truck exceeds the speed you were going when you lifted your foot off the throttle. If you like driving around with it on, go for it. When you are loaded up and towing, definitely turn it on (in either mode, I mostly use auto). It works wonders slowing down trailers.

full eb is anytime you let off the throttle, it engages. auto will engage to keep you at speed with cruise control, and will engage when the brake pedal is pressed.

I run full all the time but you can run what ever you find that fits your style it wont hurt anything in fact it will help keep the VGT from sooting up and having issues over time
