Had a bird strike my windshield yesterday morning, 67MPH on the freeway. Luckilly I was wearing sunglasses, big explosion of glass shards and dust right into my face and everywhere, break open enough for wind to blow it in too.

2019 RAM 2500 BIGHORN - auto a/c, no lane assist, no adaptive cruise.
Looked up a quote on Safelite for an OEM replacement.
$840 for a windshield to be replaced.

I will not be using insurance. USAA is not good for windshield coverage.
I've seen on other forums cheaper solutions without OEM, probably local shops, etc.
Wondering if any of you have experience with newer RAM windshield costs?

Thanks.

As they go to more and more acoustic glass maybe the price will come down, but right now it is $$$$.

I too have USAA, it's all I've really ever known so I can't compare. They've done okay by me on windshield replacements, and my other vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler that Ive owned since new. This year, the thing to do with wranglers is upgrade to Gorilla Glass. On my last windshield replacement USAA paid for the Gorilla Glass at no extra charge.

I got a chip in my '19 Ram the week after I bought it. It was repairable, but crappy none-the-less. While in the shop getting my estimate for ceramic coat and tint, the shop suggested I tint the windshield to keep the heat out, and the addition of a product called ExoShield, which I assume is some kind of clear-bra for the windshield making it stronger and less prone to damage. They are also going to ceramic coat over that. I'm interested to see how it works out. (Install will be later this month)

I had to have the windshield in my 2019 1500 replaced due to a crack this winter, only 3 months old. I had an OEM put in by safelite for about 100 bucks less than your quote, which seems right assuming the HD windshield is bigger. Safelite is good, and I wanted OEM. It sucks, but worth the cost for OEM to me.

Being a vet, they even handed me a cool challenge coin when they were done.

If nothing else, at least you're getting what you pay for with OEM and Safelite.

The OEM windshield is very low availability, so the mobile installer is bringing aftermarket Monday. It's same manufacturer, but won't have the RAM logo. Just over $400 installed.

No need to involve insurance, I've read way too many complaints about USAA raising members' rates for windshield replacement. No thanks!

Will post update after install.

My 2015 needs a windshield. Rock chips all over.

It is the same deal, with the RAM LOGO it was 735ish on national backorder. The other was 275ish and available.

I am biding my time hoping it comes down, I like the RAM logo lol

UPDATE

No aftermarket for my windshield with only the rain sensor. Installer has to get OEM Mopar through dealer. Part# 68362491AB
1 to 2 weeks shipment!!!!!!
$767 installed ($200 installation)

ANOTHER 2 WEEKS NOT DRIVING MY TRUCK!!!
I get employee cost at my dealer. This afternoon going to see if I can order the glass for less than $567 and just pay the installer $200.

Will update again...

UPDATE: 09JUL2019 15:00 - OEM Mopar windshield ordered.
Good time to do some truck accessories while stuck in the daym garage for a couple weeks  ........

My windshield caught something on July 6th running across Louisiana...got one ordered on the 8th.
Was told the ETA was the 22nd...now I'm told July 31st...grrrrrrr
No idea of the cost yet.

OCTOBER is the latest update. It's quicker to order a new truck than it is to get a new windshield. WTF.

My dealer has No clue when mine is coming in...another dealer quoted Aug. 15th ship date...

OUCH!!!! Glad no body damage. Don’t they know they are supposed to fly 20 ft to 400 ft according to FAA guidelines.

FCA Customer Service says they are trying to expedite the part. Will see what happens with that...
