I'm retired Navy/Navy Reserve, 27 years total. I've taught school, been electrician, electronics tech, college instructor, traffic signal tech, electronics/electrical maintenance tech in a poultry plant and many other jobs. Just to get kids through school and and keep the lights on.
We had 2017, 1500 4x4, crew cab with a tonneau cover over the 5' bed. Loved it. Consistently got 17/18 mpg with the hemi engine and the tow package. Then the wife says "I'd like to get an RV and travel for a few months a year," (We're retired 7 years.) Well what she liked required more oomph than our poor pickup could provide, so we upgraded to a 2022, 2500 Laramie with the tow package and 4x4 with the crew cab and camper shell over a 6' bed. It has more bells and whistles than Santa's sleigh. Now we get 12-14 mpg and loan payments ^ and insurance ^. And she wonders why I can't spend as much on grandkids and great-grandkids! Wonder if mileage will change much when towing a 12000# RV?
