2019 Ram 2500 Diesel
My fan clutch has always engaged at start up - now it never shuts off. Dealer said the part is bad (16,000 miles), but, the vehicle is safe to drive. It is not making the power it should and I am supposed to pull a 10,000lb boat 600 miles this weekend one way and then drive home empty. I'm concerned this is going to lead to a breakdown. Any advice?

I get it, sometimes you just get dealt a defective part. Haven't seen anyone else complain about a fan clutch. I agree a little worry about power loss because of this but it shouldn't mean anything to that diesel, just put the hammer down when you need it and it should be available. If you're in a cooler climate maybe you could run your winter front to keep temperature warm?

Thanks, I'm in Charlotte, NC pulling to Florida, so not a cold climate at all. My worry is it's not designed to run that long and if it loses a bearing will that throw the truck in limp mode. Can't seam to get the dealer to answer the question...

I work on Road Tractors and other Diesel Heavy Equipment, honestly I would agree with the Dealer and say it's safe to drive.

It wont do much to hurt the power, but you wont hurt anything with it running max as it is made to always spin if anything at least you know you wont overheat lol

One of my old jeeps the clutch failed so i made it stay permanently engaged never had an issue in the 5 years i left it like that

The truck made it back and forth - just a little loud. Thanks for the feedback.
