Howdy Folks - new to the forum after placing a 2022 order earlier this week. I currently have 2016 2500 Longhorn that was about 102K miles on it and we are upgrading to a 3500 to pull a living quarters horse trailer. I spent a solid month looking for the build we wanted, but couldn't find one anywhere. Had a deal in place out of Texas for one that was close, but backed out of that one due to some dealer shenanigans. So, after all that, went ahead and ordered a 3500 exactly as we wanted it. Should have a VIN early this week and was told delivery for November (maybe October), but in all honesty, I've set my expectations for January. If it gets here sooner, great! Anyway, here's our build:
3500 Mega Cab 4x4 Longhorn
DRW
Cummins HO w/ Aisin trans
Bright white exterior
Black/Cattle tan interior
Longhorn Level 1
Adaptive steering
Auto level rear air suspension
Aux switches
Trailer surround view
5th wheel/gooseneck prep
Tow-Mode camera
Cold weather group
Trailer TPMS
Safety group
Towing tech group
On/off road tire option
I wanted the Maximum Steel color, but was out voted by the wife for the white. It will be easier to keep looking nice - our 2500 is white too and with a quick hose off, it looks pretty good. Gets a good detail about once a quarter. We've really liked our 2500 and it's been problem free, but doesn't have the capacity to handle the 3 horse + LQ trailer we'll have coming. The trailer weight will be in the neighborhood of 13K lbs empty, so loaded up with horses and gear, guessing will be around 18k lbs or so. The truck is probably a bit over built for that duty, but I've learned the hard way before that when it comes to trucks and tractors, you're better off being over trucked/tractored just in case! Plus being in Colorado, going anywhere to the west requires mountain driving so the extra power and stability will be appreciated.
Looking forward to sharing and learning more here.
Thanks!
