Hello fellow HD’ers. I recently purchased my 2nd Ram. I upgraded to a 2024 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4, 6.4L Hemi. This new HD has a lot more features than my '04 Ram 1500. I have not had time to go through the manual or tutorials and all the websites yet to learn about all the features. I hate reading, but I will get it done soon. I honestly did not need a new truck now, but I have been wanting a new one for several years now. I have been waiting for the prices to come down, but that has not happened. So before next year's higher price models, I pulled the trigger on this one. I wanted something beefier this time. I am hoping to get 20 years out of this one like the '04, which is still running and in decent shape w/ 217,000 miles. Although, the HD has already been back to the dealership for a mis-aligned cab. It took me a few days of driving it to see the misalignment. You cannot un-see it once you see it. That was a 3-week fiasco to get resolved. So, for anyone thinking of buying a new truck, be sure to check the cab and bed alignment before you sign the contract. Pics of both trucks are attached. That's all for now and thanks for being here.

Welcome.

Cab alignment is very common and affects probably 50% of the trucks. Some worse than others. Mine was off 2". Dealer claimed they had to max out both cab and bed adjustment to get it right and get the puck holes to stay aligned. With modern manufacturing you would think that just isn't possible. Tolerance stacking I guess. Had an AR or 2 builds go that way and had to trade out some lowers to make the whole fam happy.

Wow, two inches is quite a bit. Mine needed a 1/4" shove to the passenger side. While I was doing measurements under the truck at home, I found a broken 2" wide strap hanging from the frame behind the left front tire/wheel assembly. Which makes me believe the misalignment happened during transport from factory to dealership. Most of the people at the dealership didn't agree with me. After 3 weeks of the dealership keeping the truck and doing nothing, they allowed me to take measurements under the truck while it was on a lift in one of their service bays. One tech loosened the body cab bolts while the service manager used a prybar to shove the cab over to where I thought it should be. We all heard a sound once the cab was moved over about 1/4". It sounded like the cab popped back into a spot that it had been in before. They both had a surprised look on their face. It's almost perfect now. One of the worst experiences I have with a company over an issue with a product I've purchased. I was told the dealership didn't have a documented procedure for how to correct the issue, so they did nothing. Customer service is hard to find now-a-days. Pics of broken strap attached.

Willing to bet the strap is from the truck transporter that hauled it from the railhead to the dealer.

So maybe not 2", it was 2" exposed on one side, flush on the other, so more like an inch combined. 1/2" cab, 1/2" bed. I mean, it is the internet afterall.

Gotcha. I found my misalignment looking in the side mirrors and it looked worse than it was. Looking at the driver's side mirror I couldn't see the end/edge of the bed. But, looking at the passenger side mirror I could see the end/edge of the bed and more. Looked like at least an inch difference out of the side mirrors, but really only 1/4" off. Now I find myself checking other people's trucks. When all this started, I checked other trucks on the dealership lot. And all of them had some misalignment but not as much as mine. I agree that this should not be happening.

“It’s 6 inches, I swear!”
