I just bought a 2022 2500 Tradesman 4x4 6.7 Cummins and I love the truck. Problem is my payload capacity. I bought a Lance TC that is made for 1/2 ton short bed trucks. Turns out I'm 200# over on payload before I add my 400# tongue weight. I have 1200 miles on my truck and been trying to trade it back in on a 6.4L Hemi 4x2 that has another 1000# of payload. Problem is, there aren't any. I put air bags on my truck and it handles the camper with no issues. I'm banging my head against the wall with this. I'm going to take a $15k loss if I trade it in. I weighed my truck with the camper and I'm 800# under on the rear axle, and 1200# under on the front axle. Both my axles are rated at 6000#. Tires are rated at 3640#. It's my understanding that the 10000# GVW sticker is mostly to help out commercial drivers who don't want to get to 26K and open those DOT doors. I also understand that if you get pulled over and the weigh you, they are only concerned about the axle weight. The wife is freaked out about the weight. I'm on the fence with this. Hopefully someone can convince me on what side of the fence I should be on. Thanks for reading. This is a great forum.
