I saw this the other day. Sounds like the next 29 page megathread of confusion. If so, I'm in on 1.

Is the new filter better for the 2019-2014 trucks? Is the oiled AB not ideal for the 2025-up? If it's better for those trucks...I'm going to say it's also better for my 2014, right?

Or just a supplier change, again?

(Currently using 53034051AB in my 2014.)

EDIT: We're behind. It's already a few posts deep over on Grumpy's forum.

It’s listed as being a superseding part number for 19 to present trucks. Sounds like grabbing at straws to try and solve the Regen problems some are having and as you mentioned possibly a vendor change. I just thought it was interesting with all of the information on which air filter to use.

Guess I was smart by only buying & using the Fleetguard AF27684 air filter, its never been oiled thus I would think it would be safe to use in the 2025 & 2026 trucks...

I’ve only used that filter also. But is it because it is contaminating the MAF sensor or is it because it’s more restrictive ? If it’s restriction, that minuscule amount of restriction should be of no importance. Why is the 0531AA filter ok for use in any year up until 19 ? Bad tuning and grasping at straws.

AF27684 is same as 53034051AB. So if the latter is oiled, former is also.

What’s different before 2019 ? The intake tract before the air filter.

They don't want the older trucks using the better filter because they aren't as sensitive to the restriction and it overloads the supply chain. Or perhaps the 2019+ filter actually isn't as good of a filter but those trucks need the lower restriction to be happy.

It's all internet speculation (see 29 page megathread) but my 2014 was happy on a purolator and now it's happy on a 53034051AB.

Your 2014 would be happy if you stuck a sock on it. (though I wouldn't recommend that as a good filter).

I have the new # filter on order and I will let everyone know if it helps my soot loading issue since my last air filter change.
I think I may have received a defective 53034051AB, because after the change my regens went to from the timed 24hr, to soot load regens at 10-15 hrs.

Makes me start to wonder.

My truck, which has never ever given me regen issues before, started after an oil, fuel, and air filter change in the spring. I didn't ask for the air filter change either. My son works at the dealership and thought he was doing me a favor. That said, I did have a bad PM sensor that was throwing sensor codes and excess regen codes and has since been replaced. Too early to tell if the regens have changed as I don't drive it much off season.

I have used a Wix air filter for years and never had a problem ,

That’s what is weird about it. Some have problems and some don’t. It would be really nice if someone could check out the differences between problematic trucks against one that has zero problems. But we might get somewhere then.
