Does any one know when the restrictions will be lifted on new orders. We have recently acquired a new trailer, 30 ft and 11000 pounds.
A bit too much for our Ram 1500 .I want to order a new 2500 but there are too many restrictions on what can be ordered. Apparently there is a shortage of the micro chips required for the sensors required.

If you already have the trailer better look for used. I had a 2012 2500 diesel and convinced myself I didn’t need that much truck and bought a 1500 gasser and an all aluminum trailer, foolish mistake. Felt like I was pulling a parachute. Traded it in <2yrs later for a 2021 2500 LH diesel, used with less than 10k, lucky. Bought a 20k RV and ordered a 3500 6.7HO DRW, May 11, that hopefully will show up in September. Until then the 2500 with airlift does the job. If you are going to be hauling a diesel is the only way to go. Unless of course you don’t need power, better mpg, or live in California. Welcome to forum.

Thanks for the input. However I don’t do enough mileage to justify the diesel and the 6.4 Hemi with air suspension will apparently give me the required capacity. Problem is, when can I get one ?

It is getting close to the of the run on the 2022’s and 2023 orders apparently will start in October per more knowledgeable folks on this forum. Ordering new, talk to a dealer and press for realistic timeline. The chips, depends on the supplier and deals they have. The short supply is not a quick fix no matter what congress gives away. Building new production facilities is a long term process. If China decides to take control of Taiwan all bets are off since that is where 75-80% of the chips worldwide come from. Might have to settle for less than desired if ordering soon. High end trucks with all the bells and whistles are a hot commodity.
