Last week, I purchased a brand-new 2025 Ram Big Horn 2500 HD crew cab truck and optioned it with the Big Horn Level 2 Plus Equipment Group, a $5,195 upgrade. Upon taking delivery of the truck, the sales team indicated that, unfortunately, they only had one key for it, as the other one was misplaced. They stated that they would program a new key for me at a later time, as it had to be ordered. Later that night, my son and I got together to compare our trucks, as he has the same truck, but a 2023 model. He asked me why my key fob did not have a remote start button on it (his does). Unsure why, I told him that the truck can be remotely started via the Ram Connect App (so the functionality is there), so we just figured the key fob I had was the "back-up" key and the key on order would have the remote start button - but it didn't The dealership stated that my Maroney label and VIN indicated no remote start key for my truck, so I only received another Lock/Unlock-only key fob.
Has anyone else ever encountered anything like this? How can the Ram truck build-out website indicate that the remote start key fob is included in the Level 2 Plus package, yet it is not included? Ironically, I went back to the dealership to check, and every other Big Horn 2500 on the lot that day had a remote start key fob. Did Ram just run out of key fobs with remote start buttons in their parts bin the day of my build, and I don't get that function? I know that Ram is pushing the $11/mo Ram Connect app which has remote start, so maybe they're deleting this function on the key fob to drive-up subscriptions (which I have the trial app with the new truck, and it has remote start in the app - and it works)? I also spoke with the dealership GM and he indicated that they couldn't provide the remote start fob as the VIN didn't include it, but gave me a tip to call the Ram customer service line where he's seen them often make exceptions.
This is not a significant issue for me - it's just odd that the website states it comes with my upgraded package, yet it doesn't. As a last funny note, the GM at the dealer went over my window sticker with me to point out the the remote start fob wasn't itemized in the package and I stated that either was the upgraded Alpine sound system with subwoofer which comes in the package (missing from my Maroney - on all other stickers at the dealership), yet I have it and have seen it with my own eyes. Just very sloppy packaging and documenting at the factory, if nothing else, I suppose...
