Unbelievable.....

Just bought this Ram diesel (havent even made first payment yet) and i literally cant believe the transmission failed at 2000 miles

I bought what i "thought" would be a reliable vehicle for my family and a summer of fun, work and moving,....

Nope, dead before i even got to tow anything yet, what a joke!

6.7 diesel 3500 long bed 68rfe....

Towed to the closest dealer (12 hours from my house), vacation scrubbed, missed work, no rental tuck given, im literally sick to my stomach i paid this much money for a broken truck with 2000 miles!....

Dealer Notes after sitting there a week :

Transmission pump blew, bunch of debri in transmission fluid/pan. Looking like need a new transmission. Tech will start warranty repair write up

P.S. I also bought a brand new Tundra 2023 last year that i actually tow with and now has 45,000 miles with ZERO trouble....im still in shocktrtrtrr.jpg

dumb?…ok

Anyway

No I’ve never had a new vehicle lose a transmission at 2000 miles, not even close

2013 6.7 lost its transmission at 180,000 and I thought that was bad

2000 miles?…nope, never crossed my “ dumb” mind

Well thats a manufacturing defect if it happened at that kinda millage not abuse it happens and it sucks but that can happen with anything. I was not calling you dumb more so your idea that things cant break even if they are new…

They should have given you a loaner thats just stupid of them not to provide one for something like this.

I have seen engines/ transmissions that did not even make it to the dealership lot before grenading its just life.

The dealership in Whitefish Montana (I didn’t buy it from them, had it towed there) did indeed give me a loaner which is cool, it’s a car which doesn’t do me any good, I need a truck, but I am grateful to them for offering

Just very disappointing I bought this truck for all the projects I had lined up this summer like building a house and moving ….now I can’t do neither,

This will costs me thousands more, time is money

Do brand new vehicles go bad after 3 weeks?….i guess, it’s never happened to me before and I bought probably 30 brand new vehicles in my life

This is the first time and honestly isn’t a great sign or give me a lot of confidence in its quality

I’m hoping the posts I read about waiting 3 months for a new transmission are wrong

Making payments on NEW truck all summer (Montana summer is everything) and not being able to use it would leave a very bad taste in my mouth

A problem like that which disables the truck three weeks after purchase isn’t grounds for a lemon law replacement?

Really in my experience you are better off than most in the sense they are not trying to fix/ rebuild your trans but just replacing it. That is a better solution as the problem should stop there and hopefully you get many great years out of it.

The aisin had a long wait i cant see the 68rfe being anywhere near that long

The long waits was for the AISIN after the Snap ring fiasco, the 68rfe has turned into a pretty reliable transmission with the 4.5 gen trucks. Hopefully you get a new one in there quickly and itll serve you well for many miles to come.

Had 2 transmissions in 12k back in my dad’s 96 Yukon….bad trans 30 miles on a 2002 explorer sport trac….dealer swapped the explorer out since it was on the trip home. Traded in at full value 6 months later since they couldn’t figure out how to make the steering wheel stop shaking 3x in the shop…this **** happens, it was a badly manufactured part out of the gate. I don’t think you have a lemon- a bad trans happens, especially a CDJR one lol

Had a 20 expedition, at 2k they wanted to tear the top of the engine apart and at 3-5k the transmission was having issues. That was a lemon. I talked to a Toyota tech and the new tacomas are having transmission issues under 1k miles and the tundras are eating the from main bearings. That’s what the warranty are for but at some point you have to cut your loses. I would rather have a transmission replacement than someone tearing into my engine or interior.

I didn't know you could even get a rf6e trans in a 3500 diesel? That's why I bought a 2024 3500 comes with the bigger output motor and Aisin trans

I didn’t want it, for reliability reasons, which is funny to me now..lol

If it's any consolation, my wife bought a brand new Chrysler Pacifica in 2007. The torque converter gave out after about a month. The dealer replaced it under warranty. The whole ordeal scared me, thinking we bought a lemon. But after that the car was problem free for 6 years, when she traded it in with 65000 miles on it.
