Howdy All,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I recently purchased a new (demo model leftover) 2019 Ram 2500 Crew Cab Long Bed Diesel 4x4. Its the Tradesman level 2 with the 4x4 Offroad package. Hoping to get some insight into tips and know how here. This is my second dodge but my first diesel.

My first few additions listed below. I put a lot of $$$$ into the down payment so these will come as the bank account allows.
-Brush Guard (any recommendations?)
-Gooseneck Hitch
-Lightbar (mounted to brush guard)
-Fog lights
-toolbox

Congrats and welcome to HDRams!

Happy modding.

OK, I'll be that guy because someone inevitably will say it.

1st mod might be air springs because, sad as it is to say, you might run out of payload quick with a 3/4T diesel.

Congrats! If you don't have any goose/5th prep, I'd recommend the B&W turnover ball. I had in my F250. Really nice, since the bed is free when you don't need the ball. Since my new 3500 already came with the goose/5th prep, as well as the 5th hitch, I went with the Curt system (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QXLI516/), which fits into the OEM holes for both the ball as well as the safety chain hooks.

Mine unfortunately did not have the 5th wheel prep. I was planning on going with the B&W. We have that brand in all of our work trucks and my ranch truck. Seems like it works well and isn't overly complicated.

As for the air springs, is this only for bed payload capacity? Or is this more for towing?

Mostly only if you need to manage more bed payload. Of course, that won't change the "legal" payload on the door sticker, but it does make for better handling and leveling when running heavy IMHO.

FWIW, I cringe at seeing myself make tow police comments, but it's important to know what you're up against. I ran 15 years on a 2500 CTD with bags punching well over my legal weight on payload and tow.

Honestly this truck is a huge upgrade from my Silverado 1500 I previously had. I may look into the air bags later down the road if I start pulling big trailers long distance. For now this truck should handle everything I need it to.
