I just traded in my 2017 Mojave Sand Rebel 1500 for this 2019 2500 in bright white a month back. I was horribly over my payload ratings with the old truck so it was time to bite the bullet and get into a truck that will be better equipped to legally handle the camper we bought this past summer. I have not hauled the camper with the new truck yet, but I do look forward to doing so this coming 2020 camping season! The attached picture is my poor abused 1500 with the camper. And yes, I CAT Scale weighed it and the tongue weight prior to the Equalizer WDH with sway control was around 1,600 lbs... and the 1500 on air suspension was rated at 1,075 payload. With fully applied WDH I was able to get it to 920 lbs... but then I could not sit in the truck legally let alone take my dogs, family and supplies!

The 1500 hauled the load just fine, more than enough power (5.7L with 3.92 gears and 8 speed) and plenty of brake power.... but the air suspension was constantly showing over payload and disabled ad I was going to destroy the air bags if I kept it up.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm in Central Pa right about center near Prince Gallitzin State Park (Glendale lake).

Glad to see you recognized the shortcomings of the Rebel and decided to Upsize, even though it had power and brakes.

You will be very happy with the HeavyDuty.

Do you camp in PA mostly, or do you head out of state?

Where do you take the Jeep to play?

Thanks for joining us

The Jeep primarily goes to Rausch Creek that is located out near you. I will haul it to other places in Ohio and I have taken it to Ouray Colorado, and every fall we do go to the Nemacolin Highlands resort Jeep Festival. I may get back to Colorado this coming year.... have to see how things shake out.
We just bought our first travel trailer in July 2019, so we are new to that. We have been to Frankin Pa to "boondock" camp 2 different weekends, and we went to Mercer Pa and Meadville Pa KOA parks for a week each. That is about the extent of our camping this past season because of our work schedules.
My wife does want to haul the camper out into the Midwest this coming summer. I need to get the "Castle Bomb" tires and 14" wheels off of it first. I am going to change to 15" wheels and tires that have a much better load capacity, the 14's that come on the unit are BARELY meeting the weight requirements of this unit... and from what I see this is typical of the industry.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Rock Run is right nest door to me, but Raush Creek is about 2 Hours east.

I have been planning a trip to both, but haven't made it yet.

Keep us posted on any trips, even the planning parts.

We have a few threads here for camping and offroading.

If you have a Jeep, you want to go to Rausch Creek. There is NOTHING like it on this side of the country. Also right near by is Anthracite Off Road. Less glacier rock, more dirt type stuff. But Rausch is freaking amazing and worth it!

I'm also near Pittsburgh. Camped several weekends at Raccoon Creek State Park & 1 weekend at Cook Forest. Gonna try to venture a little further now that I have truck with better tow ratings.

I do want to go to Anthracite Off road as well.

I am planning a camping trip to Bald Eagle State Forest soon, to disperse camp with just the truck. Lots of offroad travels there, but nothing challenging.

I get offroad alot, but all the places to play have been posted or changed to state gamelands. And now with the purple stripe law...I am sure even more areas will disappear

Here is our camping thread.

I thought I had started an offroad thread here, but I must have done all that at our 1500 site.

This is our usual weekend range, we go a bit further during vacation time.
