Hey, been stalking the forums for quite some time now and wanted to make sure I'm as updated as I can be. My intention is to activate the factory alarm, remote start, and program a key fob with alfaobd. As I understand ill need a 4 pin code I'll have to get from the dealer. I've already set up the bypass cable and linked up my laptop and the connection seems fine. Some of the informative forums were older and I wanted to verify that all of this can be done. Also any new updated features that anyone knows?

Thanks for your time
Will

As I understand, the PIN was required for the 4th gen, but with the 4.5 gen you no longer need it.

But as for features, you may want to have a read through the AlfaOBD thread AlfaOBD thread in the Modifications and Accessories section. Plenty of other changes you may want to look into.

Ok so progress so far. Once your connected.
ACTIVATE ALARM
Function: body computer
Control unit: my 2019 powernet
Connect
Go to active diagnostics,red car
Car configuration change
Select option: lin and misc. Vta system...
Select value: vta
Start

Disconnect. And don't irritate your new flashy light...

Ok, so I ordered an oem key fob for the remote start. Is there a kit for the tailgate lower button or do I just install the dampener?

You can't code a FOB on a 2019. It needs an active connection to WiTech and uses a rolling code.

In fact, if you ordered a refurb FOB that's not in a sealed MOPAR bag, many of them can't be programmed by the dealers because they weren't reset/cleared properly.

You can make changes to the BCM settings but that's it.

If you don't have the tailgate damper strut, just order the part and snap it on.

Plenty of info in this forum (thread moved).

P.S. Are you sure you want to use your email address as your username? You can change it and I suggest you do so.

Thanks.

Forgot to ask, did you verify the parts needed for Remote Start/alarm (hood latch sensor or grounded through 1K resistor)?

Thanks.

Didn't check any of that. But alarm goes off when you open the doors. Will check hood latch and may add glass break or proximity sensors at a later date. But at least I know alarm works with doors

I think the hood sensor is only for remote start. The truck won't remote start if it can't lock the doors and see everything closed. Though there is no tailgate open sensor on the HD trucks so that one doesn't matter.

Ok so I got it home. Remote start button did nothing so I activated it with alfaobd and it now beeps when I press it. I assume this is due to the lack of hood sensor. Is there a place I can buy this oem sensor or jumper it out?

Kit parts as listed in the thread below or jumper BCM C1 Pin 11 with a 1K resistor to ground.

To quote Jimmy07 in the post just below the link:

"To add to my reply above: another option if you don’t have the hood latch and wiring- the hood ajar sensor wire is most likely present at the BCM connector C1 pin 11. You can just ground that wire with a 1k ohm resistor, and the BCM will see the hood as always being closed. Just throwing that out there if one weren’t concerned about installing the correct latch and wiring."

Ok, I am an industrial electrician however the automotive stuff is new to me. Where exactly is the BCM C1 PIN 11

Keep in mind that once you enable remote start, the truck must be driven over 35mph before the remote start will activate and work. Do you get a message in the EVIC that says remote start canceller hood ajar? Did you check to see if you have a two wire connector plugged into the hood latch?

I don't mind spoon feeding for a while but you really need to read some of the threads I linked and do a little searching.

The BCM (Body Control Module) is up near the firewall under the dash. Behind and above the parking brake pedal.

In the Remote start post, there's a PDF for the kit install that shows everything.

I appreciate the help guys. Remote start, auto tailgate and factory alarm are all working. Good grief the pin was hard to get at for the hood latch. Any suggestions on what to play with next with alfaobd
