Hello everyone,

so I picked up ‘GG’, my new (to me) 3500 Laramie dually 3500. I chose this truck because we just upgraded our camper to a monster 5th wheel toy hauler which tops out at 20k lbs. turns out that after 18k miles all 4 rear tires are at the wear limit. Does anyone have any suggestions on tire choice? Or the best place to get new?

What year is the truck? How many miles where on it before you bought it?

What tires are they on it now? What air pressure are you running?

A 20k toy hauler will have 4000-4600 pound pun weight. Do you have enough payload available? Have you weight truck and trailer?

Different trims have different payloads.

If you mainly do highway, I would look into Michelin Defender LTX tires (245/75R17 as no OEM size are available).
If you need a bit more aggressive tire, Falken A/T3W, Cooper DISCOVERER AT3 and General GRABBER A/T X are all great choices.

The factory Nexens are crap. I sold them as take-offs when new, and put Nitto Exo Grapplers on, as I had run them on my 2500 and liked them. Unfortunately, they are not the hot ticket on a dually. I am having cupping/uneven wear issues on the front, and it is not an alignment issue. I did find a leaky factory shock replaced early on, and thought that was the root of it, but no luck. The tread pattern also magnifies the dually tendency to wander due to the difference in track width front to rear. Not sure what I'll try next.
