Well someone decided my 2022 didn't need the door that currently is on it. 5 seconds earlier and I would have been pinned between their car and my door. They moved my whole truck up they hit it so hard. I don't quite know how he didn't see it open.

Anyway think parts are available yet? Can they use panels from a 19,20 or 21? To say I am sick doesn't even begin to describe. At least the cops are blaming him and my insurance shouldn't suffer.

2019+ has same body panels, shouldn’t be an issue to get a replacement

From someone that works in a body shop, sourcing parts is going to be a potential nightmare. Expecially the vin tag on the door. Most stuff is on national back order. Are you doing it yourself or going through insurance? Hard to tell by pics, but rhe fender should be able to be saved.

Going through insurance for sure. My thinking was the fender might need replacing as its dented in a few spots along the folded over edge where it meets the hinged side of the door.

Do you think they would give me the truck back without a door tag while waiting for it to come in?

Also another concern is if the pillar could be bent or twisted what can be done.

More than likely no, due to legal reasons with the vin on the sticker. But I have seen quite a few cars leave without them lol and people are more lax now a days with so much stuff on back order for months.

Hopefully they can get you a door shell and overhaul all the parts from the old one and repair the fender. Hopefully the pillar isn't damaged cause that will be a **** ton more work with lots of parts to R&I

You will probably be fine since it appears to be mainly sheetmetal and more than likely not a pillar. Obviously it will need teardown and an estimate in person.

At least you have a police report.

In many jurisdictions with accidents not involving injury, the police won't even respond and it's up to the insurance companies to review the party's statements and decide who's (more or less) at fault. In very many, they just do 50/50 and each driver takes the hit for an at fault. Sucks when you have to pay a deductible when someone else was at fault and lies to their advantage.

My wife was hit by another driver that was backing in a Walgreen's lot. She had already completed her backing and was in Drive with her foot on the brake when she was hit. The other two s***bags in the other car claimed she was backing and their insurance company refused to pay. After paying for the repairs, our insurance didn't want to bother to pursue subrogation and dinged us with the deductible. Fortunately, they didn't count it as an at fault claim. If we wanted to fight it, we'd have had to file a small claims case against the driver and there again, without witness or dashcam proof, it's he-said, she-said and the s***bags win.

Hope your truck gets repaired to your liking and timely. It really sucks to have a new vehicle get wacked like that.

That's a bummer but did you not see the other person pulling into the spot? I've almost hit people carelessly throwing their door open and thinking "don't you look before opening your door dip$hiit??"

My door was already opened. I actually had 1 leg out of the truck already. The way the way the parking lot is set up is that there is about a 300ft straight shot off the road into the few stalls where I was parked. I suspect he was flying and thinking to pull through as the spot on the other side of his was open as well as the one in the next lane which would put him up against the building.

Funny thing is I said to my wife while pulling in "oh nice, I can get the spot on the end out the row and only have to worry about an A-hole on my left side and not both."

Man that sucks!! Glad you got your leg pulled in, we would be having a completely different conversation if not. The truck is easily fixed compared to a limb although the other driver may have mysteriously ended up with a broken limb had that been my truck, haha

I got lucky when my 19 got hit i told the guy i had a dash cam even though i didnt at that point so he admitted it was his fault when cops showed up i ordered a dash cam from amazon while i was waiting for the police lol

This is very true. A co-worker was sideswiped by a construction company pickup pulling a trailer. The loose fender on the trailer barely knicked her but ripped a jagged hole in her passenger side door and messed up the fender. It was obvious the truck/trailer driver was reacting because his lane was ending and he wasn’t paying attention. There insurance company denied fault, even though on the scene he admitted fault to her, but there was no police report and she’s screwed.

I think her biggest expense is a month or 2 or a rental because it’s so hard to get the door.
