Need advice on oil change intervals

I do mine every 5K miles. Has worked for me for years on all of my new motors.
ditto and an easy interval to remember once you get on track. I do my first couple really early like 1000 and 2500 and then at 5000 , 10000 etc/

I did my first at 500. Then 4500. So now I'm on track and easy to follow. Every time it reads 5 or 0, I know it's time to change oil and rotate tires.

Im gonna get burned at the stake for saying I do mine every 3k. :). First one was 500 miles, then 3k, then 6k and so on. *dons flame suit*

I was thinking of dropping down to 4k but after seeing the sample from the other member I'll probably stick with 5k.

I will say the first oil change at about 500 miles revealed some metallic looking flecks in the oil that has disappeared with subsequent oil changes. Glad to get that break-in nonsense outta there.

I suppose I'll be changing the oil twice when I drive my truck away from MD in January to come back home. The first time in Ft. Stockton, Tx (~650 miles) and once when I get home near Seattle after heading west to Bakersfield, CA, then up to San Fran, then the rest of the way along the Pacific coast on HW-101 - another ~2,500 miles.

I change mine when my oil monitor gets to around 30% or when I hear the “startup clatter” meaning the oil filter check valve may be tired. Typically very close to the 30% oil life.

To each there own. I put over 100k Mike's on a few Cummins, with emissions. With 15k mile oil changes. Never any problems related to that.

Fwiw I do my 6.4 at 7500. Just cause the manual states never go above 8. If oil samples still suggest it. I'll go to 10k once the warranty is up.

Lol, no. When the condensation builds up and the PCV freezes shut it over pressurizes the crankcase. Then the rear main blows out, dumps all the oil and your teenage daughter who doesn't know any better keeps driving. You should see how pissed people are when they find out they need an engine because they figured they would take their oil change out to 8k miles.

Although probably rare and unlikely, it does make sense. Being in CA, ive never heard of such a thing but then again its never freezing cold here haha.

Good info, thanks.
