Near Term Build Plan: GMRS and SmartCap

After much researching and googling, the plan I am working on right now is to install a Bulletproof Diesel Third Brake Light antenna mount, GMRS radio inside the dash on the driver's side (possibly to the left of the steering column), and I'll mount the handset on a bullet point mounting arm to the left of the 12 inch screen. The biggest question was whether or not the third brake light (with camera) will have enough clearance between it and the SmartCap. Thanks to @Metternacht I got some pictures and measurements of the clearance between the third brake light and SmartCap (1.5 inches). He says that he has his SmartCap is mounted close to the cab.

Bulletproof diesel says that the antenna mount pushes the third brake light out about an inch (I assess that it is actually about .75 inches); so even if it pushes it out a full inch there will still be 1/2 inch of clearance; so if I can mount the SmartCap back .5 to .75 inches; It should have more than enough clearance. If there is some unforeseen reason that I cannot push the SmartCap back the third brake light should still clear, though it will be close and bed flex might be a problem. This set up should give me a pretty massive ground plane for the radio, and significantly simplifies cable management and figuring out a routing solution for the coax cable from the antenna to the radio.

I have done hours of research on this, and I haven't found anyone running this set up in a Ram (or any other truck for that matter). I think this will work, unless I am completely missing something. I think that the clearance problem gets worse with the fiberglass caps, since they don't have the same cutout as the SmartCap.
