Hi there,
I just bought a 2018 Ram 1500 Night Edition and I like the truck but the Navigation reads that the truck is in Canada and wont update to current location.
If I type an address in, the map finds the address but still thinks the truck is in Quebec and the map route is from Canada to the recent address.
So the GPS is technically working but again, it thinks it's located in Canada. I've tried the hard reset and even disconnected the battery hoping it would reset but it did not.
I took the truck to my local RAM dealer and they said the entire radio needs to be replace and they quoted me $1200 for a replacement.
I see the 8.4 UConnect radios on Amazon and Ebay for $150- $200. Are these any good and will replacing just the screen, make the navigation work or does it have to be the whole system?
Any advice and/or input on this subject would greatly appreciated.
I know a lot of people have problems with these radios between it lagging, ghost touches or delaminating but mine is perfect except the Navigation and compass both don't work as they should.
I know I can use Apple or Android if I choose but I'd really like the GPS/Maps/Navigation in the truck to work as it should.
Thanks again for any help or suggestions.
Has anyone had the same Navigation problem and bought a replacement (not through the dealer) radio that worked and solved the issue?

Sounds like the GPS isn't working at all. The GPS antenna might not be connected properly. I'd pull the infotainment system out and check all the plugs.

I would also try recalibrating if you haven't already. There should be an option somewhere in the nav settings and while doing it I believe you have to drive in a few circles and figure 8 patterns in an open field/lot.

I did try that and the compass would not correct itself. Unfortunately. I just took it somewhere else and they agreed that there is no fixing it as the radio (gps) is defective and needs to be replaced. Can't believe Ram has no fix for this. So disappointing.

You may want to ask over on 5thgenrams.com this is the HD site.

They do have a 4th gen (classic) forum.

My nav switches seamlessly between Canada and the US. As indicated above, it sounds like a hardware issue. Let us know what solution you arrived at.
